Hi

Sex magic

Anyone done this?

I had a PM about this so I just would like to hear views.........don't be shy

I've never been their and never thought of it until now.

I did know someone who was in a coven and he told be that there was no sex.
I guess people in covens are not all having sex.

I'm not asking/offering for anything, just your views please.

(feeling bashful but ...) This is extremely personal. However, I chose to share it in hopes it might facilitate a discussion for others to join with their own experiences, and support an atmosphere of intellectual discussion.

I've never studied magick, or sex magick. I have, however, found myself spontaneously using both.

Late last year, I began to feel that my connection to my own spiritual guides was too exclusively feminine or animal/totem. I felt no sense of Male wisdom directly connecting with me, and inwardly sought that balance.

So, I called down a spell when alone. I had just ordered my Shapeshifter deck, and that night called down a Mentor, or Master/Teacher. I did my own prayer work for "protection and the ultimate good to be had" should this request be granted, prior to making it. I believe protection is important in any spell work, even though as I say I am not a witch.

I just spontaneously worked this "spell" (for lack of a better word to describe this potent prayer/request/demand) out of a desire to bring my Teachers closer to me, and to become accessible to me on new and different levels.

Since the deck's arrival, I've had a number of meditations that have lead to sex magick (auto, if that's of use to know) while continuing to learn this deck. I've been given my guide's image and name, as well as my own to use with him. I've been given my animal totem, and his, and many many more things. And, I've opened myself on new levels of understanding with many of the deck's cards. What is ironic is that now, when I choose to continue working with the meditation and deck this way, it is no longer an "erotic" experience, so much as it is a "visionary" experience.

This is extremely personal. I'm literally blushing, I can feel it. But I'm striving to be honest to facilitate learning. I hope this post and it's contents are honored in that vein, because discussing this is making me feel extremely vulnerable.

Alissa, I've often admired you for your insights and openness. Courage is one of the more important human attributes.

I can't seem to contact any of my spirit guides, although when I first stepped onto the Pagan path, I had some fascinating spiritual experiences.

Would it be possible for you to share with us something of your "spells?" I seem not to have many skills in this line.

Goddess Bless

I can highly recommend the book Modern Sex Magick by Donald Michael Kraig. ;)

In the book he provides a number of theorems for working magick.

Just a few of my favorites:

Magick is not something you do - it is something you are.

Creation on the spiritual plane leads to creation on the physical plane.

The thought held in your mind at the moment of orgasm is a magickal trigger.

Let go and let the magick work.

This is extremely powerful stuff - not something to play around with... and not for the idly curious.

OOooo...

So, who is going to enlighten innocent moi? What is sex magick? I honestly think that if I were to ask a partner if we could participate in a spot of 'sex magick', then he would probably tell me to piss off in no uncertain terms, HEHEHE ;) I would have to do it without his knowing. But then... would that be unethical? LOL

WolfSpirit  03 Apr 2003
I am not very experienced in magick and as I had already heard what Major Tom mentioned - you have to be very careful with it - I would not deliberately try sex magick at this stage in my learning.

So well I know I never practised sex magick but I did (unintentionally) raise sexual energy while meditating, I think this happens naturally when you are totally at ease feeling well in your body etc. etc... but I never combined it with spell work (so maybe Alissa's experience was different from mine as she did do a spell...)
Must say though I use the Shapeshifter too (everybody will rush off now to get this deck ;) )

(On the side - I will probably in time get the book by D.M. Kraig as I have another of his books which is very good but far from easy stuff).

Alissa  04 Apr 2003
(grinning at Wolf Spirit) Well, I have to say the fact that it's the Shapeshifter deck really has NOTHING to do with sex magick. It was a "coincidence" in my life. So, anyone running out to make love to the Shapeshifters might wanna belay that inclination.

Major Tom, that's a fabulous list. In general, I was glad that I could hold up all of those tenets against my own practices and feel that I was, again, on a right path for myself.

Emma, thank you for being so responsive and I'll try to explain my method. First I go and pull a random card from my SS deck. I focus on the card, being extra attentive to all the details. This is a new deck to me, and can be confusing. Instead of ever trying to place other meanings (or traditional meanings) on this deck, I've been instructed thatit is more important than even to just be open and let meanings come to me.

So I focus on the card, memorizing many of the colors, pictures, creatures and people shown. I keep this image with me very concretely throughout my practice. With my Teacher, I let my own building emotions mix into the card and see what it continues to bring up in my mind. This is where the visionary experience often begins to open up. I listen for his voice as well, but often he is just with me while I'm learning, and rarely participatory, unless I drew his card (which happens disproportionately often, compared to the draws I do with my other decks).

Maintaining focus and not sliding off into a fantasy is important for my own mind's training at about this point. As I feel sensation build, I do exactly as Major Tom quoted, holding a certain thought, image, essence or message from the card in my mind. Many of the insights I've been given were given just before, during or after orgasm.

I'd like to take a moment, lastly, to reiterate that caveat that Major Tom mentioned ... sex magick isn't to be undertaken lightly. I do not believe that it should be practiced at all, unless all partners are informed, and willing. My own practices are "auto" due several facts. I do these meditations for my *own* spiritual benefit, and not for my partner's, or for our relationship's benefit. I am seeking to contact my own guides, and cement a bond with One in particular using this path. My goals in this work, then, are entirely personal, and directed towards myself and my Teachers.

I have a passing knowledge, but no practice, with tantricism and other left-hand paths. This gives me enough basis to know that I am not ready to do sex magick with a (live) partner. My husband is not inclinced towards tantric knowledge, nor other magic practices. I am not ready to combine my power with another's, unless it was one who could support me, spiritually, during the endeavor. This has everything to do with spirit, and nothing to do with genitals -- I'd like to make that clear.

I firmly believe that magick should always be safe, sane and consensual. (That's a golden rule from a different philosophy, but applicable here).

Hi all,

Thanks for sharing :)
I came across this website

http://www.anathemabooks.com/sex_magick.shtml

Does anybody know where I can find the suit associations re: sex magick and the tarot?

Thanks

*hugs Alissa*

Hi, I'm reviving an old thread because I'm on the prowl for stuff on sex magic, tantra and (this is a new word to me, but I like it already) Karezza.

For some reason, my spriritual experiences often are sexual as well. There's a lot in Alissa's story that I recognise. I wanted to share this site for you, as I've found it really helpful. It's not about sex magic as such, more about sex as a spiritual, or generally more satisfying experience.

I think this is really interesting. Major Tom's warning has got me worried though. How do I know that what I'm doing is safe? All I want really is a deeper *sexual* relationship with my lover, but magic is a tricky thing and I'm not very experienced.

[edit] I didn't give you the link, did I? Well, that was very silly. http://www.luckymojo.com/sacredsex.html

well sex magic and tantra are different, yet the same.

(some people (who are occult) will use sex as a way of gaining power, at the expense on the other person. - i am not talking about this kind)

But sex 'is' magic, and is beautiful and rewarding. If there is love, respect and conciousness. The similarities lie in Tantra being about the 'ritual' of love and sex. honouring the devine in one another.

but do not mistake tantra - many people who practise this are celebite. in order to truly love another, you must truly love yourself. this is where the magic can happen. the 2 of you are as 1 - 2 halves, making the whole - and this is what is powerful - this unity.

'the art of sexual magic' by margo anand, is a pretty good book. she is schooled in the tantric tradition, but the book covers a broad spectrum of traditions.

i recently returned a library book based more on spellwork (herbs and candles) and spirituality, i believe it was called 'love magic', by marina medici (i could have the spelling off, sorry)
