To me, everything around me is evidence of the Divine. To the skeptic, nothing is evidence of it.
For me, the vastness and complexity of the universe, right down to the DNA double helix in every cell of my body, tells me we are all of divine origin. I do not believe the ascension of life was the result of chance. If I did, our lives would have little meaning and our souls would be nothing more than a fictitious creation.
I believe each of us is the recipient of communication from the divine. These messages are as subtle as the rustling of leaves in a summer breeze, or the kiss on the cheek by a raindrop. However subtle their effect, they are nonetheless messages from the Divine.
There are those who attempt to communicate with the Divine, each in their own personal way. Some do so by prayer, some by ritual or magick, some through their works and some through their art. The method of communication is not important, rather, it is the state of mind of the person.
Yes, there are things in the world which are inherently wrong or malevolent. Injury without justification, hatred, the unjustified breach of a promise are a few. These injustices were not created by the Divine, because the Divine is not capable of creating evil. Wrongful acts are created by entities, such as humanity, which are able to do so.
The Divine gives us the power, the authority and the responsibility to oppose such injustice. The Divine works through us; we are the instrumentality of that goodness.
We measure ourselves by how we respond to injustice and hardship. If we oppose evil by using evil means, we have not served the Divine. We are given the ability to judge good and evil, and the only true judge of our efforts is our conscience.
To be continued ....
