We talk about it every day. Its in songs, in beauty parlors, on bathroom walls. Is it card number 6, or is it something else?
What is love?

In the words of one of my favourite songs* - 'love is seeing all the infinite in one'
Jilly
*- Spirit, performed by John Denver, not sure if he wrote it. It also has another of my favourite lines (talking about the 'spirit' of the title) - 'it lives upon a star too far to dream on'

The music was written by John but the words were writen by Joe Henry. (There are seeveral people by this name. This one lives in Aspen, Colorado.) Joe Henry wrote the lyrics for many of John Denver's more spiritual songs including "The Flower That Shattered the Stone". The last line of 'Spirit' is so powerful:
"It's the fire and the wings that fly us home! Fly us home! Fly us home."

Perhaps love is being with.
To be with another, we must be able to be with ourself, in fullness, without contrivance.

We used this as as one of the selection criteria for a job in psychiatric disability. For us, it simply means acceptance. It is the ability to "be with" someone no matter what is going on.
I was going to suggest it as well, firemaiden, as it is implies both reflective and active love.
