i saw the movie the messenger like 30 times (i own it )
in it joan of arc conscience as dustin hoffman shows up. and later on , joan starts to tell him of signs she saw.
a sword in the field.
he said a sword ? there are many ways a sword might find itself in a field.
*he runs through a gambit of images like a duel and one person dying dropping his sword, a theif running with a sword and getting it in the back, to a man walking and just dropping the sword in the ground *
"but no you choose this one "
and a sword was floating down from the sky and music was being played and light as shining upon the sword.
there was other example but that one has made me think the most.
as spiritual people we just dont' look for divination in system such as oracles or tarot, but also in dreams, guides.
or if we walked into a book store on a whim and see an interesting book..
"I WAS LEAD HERE BY THE LIGHT "
or if we were going through something and saw a movie that touched our hearts
"I WAS LEAD HER TO SEE THE MOVIE "
or we went to a party and go lucky (heyyyy ) and met the girl of our dreams.
"wow damn they are good"
or went to bingo on a whim and won
"yeah they sure love me "
--------
went into a book store brought a book and it turned out to be crappy
"god guides what the deal "
i went to see a movie ,, and it sucks
"why didn't you speak up louder, i only heard it in whispers "
went to the party met the girl (single male here ) and it didn't work out
"what the hell , i went to the party with the light what goes on ?"
went to bingo on a whim and lost and had to eat noodles and kraft dinner once every two days to next payday
"your a lying son of... "
all the while we picture some blokes up there dressed in light of robes laughing their head lol
actually i learned at age 16, in a program called flying on your own, about choices we make.
in it , he changed lucky at bingo to choose,
i choose to go bingo, to see a movie, to meet the girl, to buy the book. (he being one of the trainers )
so to is the questioon what signs do we see,
do we see what we only want to see ?
sometimes they (being guides, and angels ) often tell us the obivous and we don't want to hear it and we go and do what we want and come back and says :"WHAT UP DOGS, "
"sorry my freind we did tell you "
or other times we ask the question wrong like , what will happen if i moved ? and they tell us "you should be asking what options you have, , but here is what will happend if you move " we hear only the what will happend and then we move and thinking that this was meant for us.
our lives are truly our choice, and we consciously choose to act with the flow, or against the flow, whatever be the case, we know that it is our choice of what advice we heard , seen or really deep down wanted.
*speaking of joan of arc, they never mentioned voice in the movie, but i sincerly believe she was divinely inspired, but then why would the source choose one nation over an nation.
so while she was inspired by her higher self, to realize her life plan. she wasn't divinely inspired to the extent to favour her nation over the other . *

Life is ......
A road map.
The destination is carved in stone, but the route we take is down to our free will.
We can take the express route, picking up speed, driving by the seat of our pants, and going much too fast to take in the scenery. Strong likelihood of losing control, mechanical failure or running out of steam.
We can take the back country route, stopping off at all points to sample the local delights but never really getting anywhere. A strong likelihood of getting lost or having to backtrack.
Or... we can take the informed route.
The route that is a little more clearly signposted with a good mix of scenery and experiences, but with as few major detours as possible, and a lot less stress.
Strong likelihood of getting where we want to be:O)
(Hmmm, wonder who wrote that? LOL)

i'm probably not understanding alot of what you are saying here, so let me just ramble and you can twack me w/a wet noodle later, ok?
first, i think that we have been given the greatest gift, which is free will...we have the ability to make a million different choices in our lives every day...while some of these choices may not be life altering, some of them very well can be!
second, nothing is set in stone...while some things are possibly more likely to occur at certain times, i do not believe that every single thing is fated...of course, this brings to mind the movie "sliding doors", but i won't get into that...
third, while it is a good thing to listen to our guides, you are right in that it is our choice whether we do so or not...ALSO, who's to say that our guides would only bring us into situations that are "lucky", "harmonious", or just positive?? aren't we here to learn and grow? so, wouldn't it make sense that they would also lead us to situations that would challenge us, get us to think, react, etc....to further our growth?
fourth, (gads, there's a fourth??) i *do* think that it is more helpful to see all of your options rather than just one possible outcome...an informed choice is better than a random one, any day!
ok, i'm done...now my head hurts for some reason! ;) (kidding)
much love and many blessings,

Signs are mysterious and can easily be mistaken . I think I judge them by what impact they make on me. If it is something mundane, I tend to discount it. Of course, they are always easier to see in retrospect.
If it is something I don't understand or have no experience of, I tend to pay more attention because I see it as coming from outside myself then. I could be completely wrong , of course.
For example, this afternoon I dreamt I was trying to get a bug out of the refrigerator. When I woke up I realized it was a scarab beetle . Now I have to find out what that means.
I get shown things in dreams I don't understand. I still don't get the gigantic Red Buddha or why Native Americans showed me the sky falling & gave me a strange spiral woman symbol.
If I have a lot of pleasant little synchronicities in daily life, I just assume it means I am moving in the right direction. If they get too strange, I think it's a message trying to tell me something. It doesn't always have to be earth shattering. I suppose the main thing is just to pay attention.

Following up on my sign for today, I found this on the internet:
"The scarab beetle is an Egyptian symbol for regeneration and resurrection. Beetles roll dung balls across the ground in the same way as the sun god Khepera was believed to roll the sun across the sky. Every day the sun goes to bed always to rise again. So the scarab became an Egyptian symbol for rebirth, the ability always to be reborn. Because these dung balls were believed (falsely) to contain fertilised eggs the symbol of rebirth was further reinforced. Scarabs were worn as jewellery and amulets, and the so called heart scarab, which had hieroglyphic inscriptions on the back, was often buried within the bandages of mummies to ensure the rebirth of the deceased in the afterlife."
There are no dung balls in my refrigerator, thank the gods, so I will take this dream as a sign to tell me that the current crisis I am going through is part of the rebirth process & to try not to be so upset about it. Maybe not pretty , maybe the nasty part of it. Perhaps when things look full of dung in the most annoying way , the sun is still a potential.
There may be more meaning I don't see yet since the scarab was considered an amulet & has a connection to mummies & the afterlife. Also, my soul may be protected from something called "Ammit the Devourer ". What a relief!

I've been really tuned in to signs lately.
I read a book where the author said the the Morrigan turned herself into a starling to escape a bad situation. The other day after a particularly difficult day at work, a starling came swooping down right in of me and flew away. I acknowledged the presence of the Morrigan and thanked her, and went on my way.
I seem to have an affinity for her. Maybe that's why I dye my hair red ???
Also today, I tried to get to Sears to go shopping for pants for my hard to fit 8-yr. old. I kept making wrong turns and when I was finally within 5 minutes of the store and looked for a place to make a u-turn, I couldn't find one and my son then said he felt sick and that he thought he was going to throw up. Since I was headed in the direction of home, that's where I went.
I'm planning a trip to another mall tomorrow, this mall doesn't have a Sears store, but maybe I'll find what I'm looking for therea
and at a better price, or, maybe I just wasn't meant to go to Sears today !!!!!
I've had the feeling that the spirit of my father-in-law is still in this house, watching over us. Sometimes when I come home and walk into the front yard I smell flowers. It's not the ones my mother-in-law has planted, because you have to right down next them to get any scent at all.
It's like I 'm hit with an infusion of a sweet floral scent. I think it's him welcoming me home.
My neighbor confirmed this belief, her bed is right up against the wall where we have the basement stairs. She says she been awakened by someone walking in the basement or on the stairs,
at 4 a.m. We are all asleep by then and the basement is locked up tight. Everyone in the house is alseep.
The doorbell would ring for no reason and I would tell the kids that it's just pop-pop Ray letting us know he's still around.
There have been other things as well, like catching a glimpse of something out of the corner of your eye. Only lately I've been catching a little more than just glimpse.
I guess I'm more open and tuned in because of my emerging spiruality. Maybe it's their way of letting me know I'm on the right track.
Anyway, sorry to be so long-winded. I don't have many people I can talk to about stuff like this and not be thought of as certifiable.
As it is my kids go around telling everyone " My mom talks to dead people." (Sometimes those conversations are a lot more interesting as well !!!!!)

talking about signs...
hubby's been considering having a gastric bypass recently, was researching it online and such...
we have tarantulas in the neighbourhood, though you almost never see them...
the other day he went out to the truck and he saw a big fat tarantula coming at him...he moved to one side...it followed...he moved to the other side...it followed (we're talking a spider as big as a grapefruit [including legs]!!!!)...it was big enough for him to make out the eyes...*shudder* finally, it went away (they do sting you know)...
so we looked up what tarantulas meant...it had everything to do w/making poor decisions regarding your health or impending bad health...
hmmm...so, now the gastric bypass has been scratched off the possibilities list...no tarantulas since then...
freaky, eh?

I had an experience while at the bookstore that a book fell out for no apparent reason.
I've seen MANY cardinals and bluejays since last year, though I hadn't seen these birds in years!
