I was in a bookstore today and I saw this book by Paulo Coelho but I've never heard about it..
Does anyone know it?

Euh... It wasn't the Alchemist, was it?
I have never heard about this book...
Well, after a little google search it seems that he has a book called like that, but all the links are in Italian... It seems to say he wrote it in 1994...

Maybe this can help...

What a weekend! First a new Harry Potter, and now a new (to me, anyway) Paulo Coelho! Tarotlady, thanks for the link! (I had to download WinZip, though, another future expense!)
Also available is Coelho's Warrior of the Light, the "companion" to The Alchemist, where "Maktub" first came to my notice, joining IBM (Inshallah, Bokra, Malesh) as a common Arabic catchphrase.
The Alchemist is one of my "desert island" books, the ones I would wish to have with me if I was to do a Gilligan. (Ginger or Mary Anne? Ginger!) I have it in the version illustrated by Moebius. I hope that Easton Press or some equivalent will eventually print a deluxe leather bound edition.
Well, is that enough gushing for one day? Ha!

Have you read Veronica decides to die? Also a Coelho book. Quite good too.
The Alchemist is my favourite though....

No, but I'll certainly check it out. Another favorite is The Pilgrimage; I lived in southern Spain in the mid-80's and developed a love for the country, and a curiousity about the pilgrimage route of St. James. I hope to walk the route myself one day; there are many historical events along it that would interest the membership here: miracles, Knights Templar, etc. :)
p.s. my soulcard is also the Hermit!

I have to say, nothing can undo the Alchemist though.
I read "The Pilgrimage" and the "Warrior of Light" which I liked very much...
My mom comes from a city called La Charite sur Loire which was an important stop on the road to this pilgrimage to St Jacques de Compostelle, for people coming from northern France or Germany.
But still....
The Alchemist is IT... oh, this makes me want to read it again!

I've read the Alchemist one too many times and every time it's like the first time
"I sat by the Rio Piedras and cried" (I'm not sure of the exact translation in English) wasn't as insightful maybe as the Alchemist but it was very touching at least for me
I read the Pilgrimage after visiting Santiago de Compostela the last Pilgrimage year, wasn't maybe what I expected
Warrior of Light I did like very much too
I hadn't seen or heard about Maktub before and I was curious of others opinions about it

Rio de Piedras translation is "River of Stones" or "Stones river" if you are refering to that.
Is interesting i have both the Alchemist and Maktub let down over the library at home but never have read it. Seems like i should take them and start to read... :)
