It would be hard for me to name any one song as the most spiritual, I think lots of music is spiritual and uplifting. For example, the "Pachebel Canon" reminds me of heaven on Earth. Pretty much anything Baroque I find inspiritational. Also "Star Wars" is fantastic to listen to when I want a little creativity boost. :)

Loreena McKennitt's musical version of St. John of the Cross' "Dark Night of the Soul." Very beautiful and very uplifting.

I'm unsure what song I'd consider the most spiritual, but I do love the purity of "The Prayer" by Celine Dion and Andre Borcelli. It is overwhelming.
I also enjoy Sting's "I Was Brought to My Senses".

I can think of many candidates:
The hymn Amazing Grace;
Claudio Monteverdi's setting of the psalm Dixit Dominus domino meo from the 1610 Vespers;
Most of Mozart's Requiem that's actually by Mozart, but especially the Introit, the Lacrimosa, and the setting of the words Sed signifer sanctus Michaël repræsentat eum in lucem sanctam;
Guillaume Dufay's setting of Petrarch's Vergine bella che di sol vestita;
Guillaume de Machaut's Vostre tres doulx regart;
The Pentangle's version of the Lyke-Wake Dirge.

Tchaikovksy's "Symphonie Pathetique" is the musical version of who I am (on the inside). So, to me, it's very spiritual, but I doubt others would find it so moving.
Gluck's Dance of the Blessed Spirits, from "Orpheus and Eurydice"
Albinoni's Adagio in G minor.

Especcialy form the cd spirit and the song Hands. But on her new album are some good songs too
I know a lot more songs that touch me deeply but there all form dutch artist. Herman van Veen has some truely beautiful songs and his lyric's are very deep and meaningfull. He once wrote a song for Nelson Mandela and Mandela heared about it and found it so beautiful that he contacted him.
Its a shame that i can't share them with you :(

I love Everybody Hurts by R.E.M., because it's a beautiful song with very positive lyrics.
And Lightning Crashes by Live, another beautiful song, about reincarnation.

AmounrA:
Is is unclear to me what you mean exactly by a spiritually awakening song.
Does it mean when you listen to it, you feel like you're entering some kind of nirvana? Or does it mean that when you listen to it, you suddenly understand things that you have never understood before? Or is it the song that you think that if everyone would listen to, half of the world's problems would be solved? Or is the song that moves you to tears because it makes your heart burst with some kind of longing for a lost paradise?
Would you mind explaining what you had in mind with this term "spiritually awakening song"?

Hello Diana, I guess a bit of all 4 :-)
Can I add another 3 from the classical side of life? Mozarts requiem, Wagners 'Magic fire music' & Beethovens glorius ninth....oh sheer audio joy ;-)

Oh my gosh, I am getting out of control.
There is so much music out there...
Gosh...
I cannot think of what to put here, because there is so many things that stirr a deep emotion in me.
I like Baroque music very much, yet the romantic era offered a lot as well.
I think it is a difficult question to answer because spirituality has so many aspects. And no song can emcompass them all.
Being a music student, I have to listen to lots and lots of new material every week, and there's always something new that just transport my heart.
At the moment I am listening to a lot of 1500 choir music is just strickingly beautiful.
But again, tomorrow, I will be appealed by something different, and there will be something out there that will touch me, that's the beauty of music.
