Blessed Be to all!
I just saw a story on CNN about the rise of Paganism in the UK. I wish I knew how to post it. It also reminded me that the Solstice is tomorrow morning, and if it wasn't raining out I'll wake up early to celebrate w/the beach and the Goddess. If it rains I'll do something in my apartment.
What are good food symbols and drink that will invoke the Goddess and the fullness of the season of Summer? I'm still so new at this but I love the feeling I get!
I feel so much better today than the past week, must be everything coming together under my sign...Cancer.
Blessed Be and I look forward to how others celebrate this holiday!

for me, the focus will be the gathering of plants and herbs for use throughout the year.
i'll be outside early, harvesting in the garden and the woods. then i will prepare the herbs as needed. some will be made into bundles and hung over my door etc.
later, in the day i will have a cookout with my family. most of the food will come from the garden.

The Solstice actually occurs at 19:12 GMT, so allowing for daylight savings and longitude that should be about 3:12 in the afternoon your time. that's a good time to hold your ritual (outside if possible).
I'd go along with Zorya's suggestions - plus you might also ensure you have some summer fruits and a good wine (which is of course the product of Summer maturisation) - anything that symbols the process of flowering will also be a good idea.

hi
it's wonderful to hear how others will bring in the holiday. and 3:12 my time will be great because if it's at least not raining out i can go to the beach with the grapes and strawberries that are left over from a surprise picnic lunch for my birthday. would've been outside if the weather had cooperated! and i have a bottle of wine too!!!! i have some cheese and salads too. i'll invited by friend sue and celebrate before giving a massage!
I even have a summer dress in mind too!
thanks for sharing and i look forward to how others will celebrate.
blessed be!

Sounds great!!!!
We're hoping to have our evening meal outside, providing the Sun returns - the last couple of days have been quite cool and there's been some rain - but I think the forecast was for a better weekend.
We'll save a glass or two of wine for the moment. Otherwise we'll just have to raise a glass indoors.
A happy celebration to everyone.

There's a Summer Soltice Celebration going on at one of the main parks (Freedom Park) here in Charlotte, NC. My family and I are going there early, since my husband works a late shift. The festivities will include live bands, psychic readers, magick acts, fire-breathers and a drumming circle... and of course fun things for the little ones. I'm looking forward to see what kind of food is there lol.

Happy Birthday, PurpleGoddess!
when is exactly is your birthday? mine is tomorrow, June 21st. I am putting together a list of intentions this evening for my personal new year. And for my birthday this year I am celebrating by going for aromatherapy spa treatment. Then after for a drive along the coast. I posted a link in astrology forum, but will post here too because it is relevant: http://www.stariq.com/Main/Articles/P0004579.HTM The author refers to this time betwen 19-24 Jun as being a sacred time when it is "easier to ascend and touch the higher, mystical planes"
Blessed Be!
