hey everyone!
i've had a sort of sensation, a ticklish/tingling type sensation just between the eyebrows or at the crown chakra area for as long as i can remember. most of the time i get this sensation when something gets too close to my face, like when someone accidently swings his hand past my afce, or someone is pointing in that general area. in fact, one of my teachers at school used to do this to wake up sleeping students in his class. he would bring his finger very close to 3rd eye area, and most of the time, the student would automatically wake up. i came up with my own conclusion that this sensation was a response to the third eye's inability to actaully blink, the way we normally would in that situation. but i really dont know. i also get this sensation when i am focusing my energy at the crown chakra area. the mere thought of something coming too close to my face brings about that feeling.
as far as i know, some people have it, and some people dont. everyone in my immediate family gets that sensation. but some of my friends feel nothing at all.
does anyone else here get this strange sensation? is this indicative of an 'open' third eye? or just a natural reaction? thanks in advance for your input!

It sounds to me like you're becoming more receptive to sensing energy when it comes to your personal chakra state (in the 6th and 7th chakra).
I often feel tingling just like you describe, but for a whole variety of reasons.
It could be that you're becoming more sensitive to various telepathic skills, as I feel a distinct tingling in my 3rd eye, coupled with a crown chakra "buzz," when working this way myself.
It could be that you're 6th and 7th chakras are really energetically "high" right now, and therefor noticably tingly.
Whatever the case, I would urge you to follow the feeling when it appears and see if you can better "bloodhound" the source.
Deep breathing (breathing from the belly) helps encourage a gentle expansion of the energy, if you seek to enlarge it's presence within you.
Whenever working on the crown chakra, if you get too high you can gently bring yourself down by drawing the energy/tingles down lower and lower into your other chakras. Seek a balancing point at the heart level, your natural energetic center if you need equilibrium while meditating. "Downflow" the energy until you come back into yourself in a more slow and natural way.

Hi,
I get something similar - different, but similar, triggered by certain sounds or actions. Massage, or someone doing my hair (i.e. hairdresser), or just breathing on the back of my neck (hehe) - or just thinking about it-- almost always triggers a spark of energy from my tailbone to my crown. (There's a bit more to this, but am editing!)
I have come to the conclusion these external triggers impact on my energy field, causing a patterned response (I have learnt from repetitive events like this) as well as it being an effect of energy externally triggering it ... am I making sense?
I can trigger this effect consciously during meditation or thinkingabout it, or it happens, beyond my control, when certain things happen. (Like some people cringe at fingernails down a blackboard, or biting wood)
You might find that during meditation, if you create this feeling, you will eventually develop some visionary ability. The fact your family all have this effect within themselves would, I imagine, predispose them towards some kind of spiritual development possible if they wished to develop it.
If you were to try and develop this, I would suggest you become more informed as over-stimulation of the upper chakras can cause problems and imbalance, ecen mental disturbance. (Let'sface it, havingvisions.... can be a sign of madness!) Robert Bruce's New Energy Ways (astralpulse website) would be an easy and good basis, as it begins with the lower energy centres to strengthen them to support the upper ones. It also prevents burn out, which can happen if you push yourself too far in one area and neglect the others that support the whole thing too.
Regarding your friends asleep in class (I can't imagine this even happening. was it maths?) and teacher pressing them on the forehead my guess is they were not in a deep sleep, and they would also have it in their minds they are in class, so the touch from the teacher would just snap them out of it. If the third eye chakra were that sensitive, then if you placed your finger on it.... for a looong time (I don't know how often it would blink if it did) then you would surely FEEL something and just HAVE to get ya finger off.... ????? I think the Third Eye is a symbolic thing, it isn't like a physical eye even though it can have vision.
Everyone has their own ideas about things. Take what is relevent and toss the rest!
bright blessings

he didnt actually press them on their foreheads, he put his index finger near the spot, about 2 inches away from the face, no contact whatsoever.

I wonder if accupuncture would help. Maybe there is a Meridain blockage occuring...

Hi Sirona.
It is most likely a reaction from your higher self to the energy (Mana) you're coming into contact with. You may sense a different quality to this reaction depending on the situation. Try breathing in the Mana (see it, experience it actually being inhaled into your nostrils - it is fuzzy blue and firey) through your nose and out of your mouth. Ask your child-self to store the mana. When you sense a good charge of it, say/think something like: "May my higher self have the energy she needs for her daily work," then ask your child-self (lower self) to divide the Mana and blow up towards your higher self. Your child self will divide the mana between your 3 selves, taking what it needs and sharing the rest.
Shamanic tip of the day,
Brad })
