I wonder how some of you out there preceive Guardians (also Keepers, Protectors, Guides, Angels, etc). Some others I've spoken to were always thinking of the Romantic kind (flowing white robes and fair skin/hair), but excuse me for being blunt, that description unnerves me . Is it because that view is popular?
Some others say they've never seen one at all, but the Guardian comes to them as a form of light. Also a small voice inside the mind, or a type of strong presence that they can't shake. A close friend of mine says that she knows that her Guardian is present when she sees a shadow on the wall when no one is standing there (in the shape of someone leaning against it.) Sounds strange, eh?
Would like your comments on this topic.

I know people who gag at the mere mention of believing in Guardians at all. What works for some might not work for others!

One night when I woke from sleep, I looked around my room and could see the familiar things in my room. It was only as I began to wake properly, that I realised that I wasn't alone in my bed. I was sleeping with my head on somebody's chest. I could see his arm and I reached out to touch it. It was a mans arm. I began to panic a little and turned to see his face. As I did, his other arm came from behind me and forced my face away so that I couldn't see him. I pushed my arm up to his head to feel his face but there was nothing there. In the panic, I switched the light on next to my bed and of course, I was alone.
I have fought with the idea that I was still in a dream but I distinctly knew that I was awake.
Has anybody had an experience like this? I heard voices when I was a kid but thought it was totally normal. I could also get my self into a state where I would see visions - occasionally these visions, often the same moving images that would repeat themselves time after time in a sequence, would turn up in the future. It was a kind of medative state that I would be in to recieve them. I can still do this but havn't for a long time.
Can anybody shed any light?

I've dreamt of my guide and he shows up in various outfits & guises, but his eyes are always the same. Other spirits will also give me a mental photo. Occasionally I've seen individuals who appeared just as densly material as physical people. On a few occasions I've just seen a short burst of light like a flash of a strobe light followed by a voice and other times a dim "puff" of light as they pass through the area. And I've seen transparent overlays of a form or face onto that of the person I'm talking to at the moment & understood it to be their guide, not mine. I get my eyes checked often enough that I can rule out funky eyesight as probable cause :D
Yaboot - You just need to have a little confidence in your self. You've already named the meditative experience as being a vision of something that occurred later & the usual term for that is precognition. And the presence in the room - you named it in one. I can imagine it was pretty hair raising. I couldn't say from your description if it was a living person's astral presence, but if it was, I'd guess it to have been somebody you know who didn't want you to recognize them.
I have a friend who popped in like this to me while he was in jail, which suggested he was sexually frustrated (understandably). He quit popping in when I wrote & told him to stop. He admitted he fantascised a relationship and appologized for intruding. I think he was as embarased at having been perceived as I was angry. He didn't know he could do that.

Howdy Sayonaran,
I've been aware, to one extent or another, of the presence of what I prefer to think of as Guides (as opposed to Guardians). My personal feeling on it is that there is a lot of overlap between the ideas of "Guides" and "Guardians", but for the most part they are there to guide me along my spiritual path - a part of this may be keeping me around this plane of existence as I learn the lessons I'm here to learn.
For me, I generally seem to get messages by "hearing" them, though what is said doesn't necessarily sound as though it is coming from an external source. As for seeing them... well, maybe. I recently had my first experience with scrying (crystal ball gazing) and was concentrating on my spirit guides. I got several images, but none of them seemed to be of the proto-typical angel type.

'Nice' or 'friendly' are probably the last words I'd use to describe my guides! Maybe you're right Sayonaran, in that the Romantic vision is the one that is most oft used in popular culture thereby making it the easiest form for a guardian to take?
