I am going to Las Vegas in August, and I want to pick a charm that I can use in a spell and then wear as a pendant when I go.
Would amethyst be good for money? or maybe an antique coin or something like that for the money part... but a charm for luck? Any ideas?

i would take a small square of green cloth. add a sprig of basil, a small piece of jade or pyrite, and a written spell/charm. gather the cloth up and tie it with a piece of white or green thread, wrapping it around three times.
you could wear this around your neck or carry it close to you, in a pocket or purse.
make sure that you include a phrase, something on the lines of 'if it be for the greater good'.

Mh... I would base your work on the energies of Venus or Jupiter.
Jupiter would work better for me, actually - but its influences are trickier, he just "expands": either it be misery or gains, he just expands... So if you are in a bad economical situation avoid it! ;)
Use elements related to Venus: my pick would be malachite, or green jade as zorya said. Plants could be vervain, apricot (summer!) and other connected with such tasks. Achillea would be my pick, again, but I have no idea how you spell it in english... :|
Square green cloth, and a white or pink string to close it.
You should prepare this right away, since we're in waxing moon, possibly tomorrow (Friday -> Venus).
I would wear it somewhere close to the belly (ovaries, feminine genitalia).

Awesome! Thank you Zorya and Pollux. I am also working on exercising my third eye chakra. I used to be somewhat gifted in that area, knowing when things were going to happen, when someone was going to say something, which keno numbers were going to hit... Hopefully I can make this vacation pay for itself ;) JOAN

Darn! I stumbled across info of what you are looking for long ago when searching out extra info on charkas/gems/minerals. I can tell the idea of what was behind it and you could go from there. For one I do remember that malachite was used and some other green stone could be used too. Hum I was thinking it began with an "a", but don't recall it right now. Along with the malachite, it said to use gold (especially), but also silver. Reasoning is you are using the same as the color of money. Green as in crisp green bills, and of course gold for gold and silver for silver. Gold is more costly than silver. Both is good and has the influence of male/female -- god/goddess energies. You want to think pentacles too, whereas green and warm golds of earthiness speak of warming sun on soil sprouting forth with green vegetation.
This extra here is just some of my own thinking, but knowing "for the highest good", "harm to none" and all that goes along with good intent and ill intend.... so what is sent out comes back to you in greater measure.... this brings to mind the law of reciprocity. You might want to predetermine with INTENT a charity or some other need in a donation (sticking to it!!) a percentage of your gains you will give to said cause. Do not use this or think of it as a bargaining chip with the Divine, but of wanting to help in a honorable manner the world, giving from what you've been given.
If cost is a factor in what you can and cannot do in creating this, you need not have real gems, gold and silver. It isn't the priority, but having the colors are. I personally if I was to attempt to make something for this, I would make a bracelet. Probably buying two cheap costume jewelry ones (one gold, one silver) and using green beads with a small amount of brownish ones. I would work making one bracelet from the two adding in the beads. I would be adding in either reddish brown or brown beads/stones/gems and to have it make up equaling out to being either 10 or 15 percentage of the total of all the materials that makes up the bracelet. However you want to work in the distribution of the beads is up to you. You could have several smaller ones of the brown or if the same saize beads, then for 10%, use a total of 10 beads and of the 10, one is the brown. The brown bead(s) would be seen as reminder of a "seed donation" promised. The brown, reddish-brown would hold the meaning mother earth's soil wanting to nuture the seed you will be planting in your percentage giving the charity. Why a bracelet and not a necklace? Because it would be near constantly wihtin sight as you are using your hand. You could say in your mind a few short special words each time you see it.
Let's us hear what you decide to do and how it all goes for you! Would be interesting to know! Good luck to you!

It is said that 3 tiger eye stones carried with your change will increase your chances of gambling luck.
Thought I'd try it out today before I posted. So I bought a $2 rub off lottery ticket and won $20.00!
Perhaps coincindence. LOL But I think I'll just keep those stones in with the change :D
