Here's my offering for today:O)
It's by the poet William Wordsworth.... written in 1804
I WANDERED lonely as a cloud
That floats on high o'er vales and hills,
When all at once I saw a crowd,
A host, of golden daffodils;
Beside the lake, beneath the trees,
Fluttering and dancing in the breeze.
Continuous as the stars that shine
And twinkle on the milky way,
They stretched in never-ending line
Along the margin of a bay:
Ten thousand saw I at a glance,
Tossing their heads in sprightly dance.
The waves beside them danced; but they
Out-did the sparkling waves in glee:
A poet could not but be gay,
In such a jocund company:
I gazed--and gazed--but little thought
What wealth the show to me had brought:
For oft, when on my couch I lie
In vacant or in pensive mood,
They flash upon that inward eye
Which is the bliss of solitude;
And then my heart with pleasure fills,
And dances with the daffodils.

Allibee, you are getting too good at this and turning into a quizz junkie. :)
Queen of Pentacles?
Mainly because there is happiness and contentment in the contemplation and imagery of natural beauty.
I think there is a particular poignancy in the RWS Queen Pentacles but it could equally apply to 9 Pentacles or Empress.

Ah, Moongold, you have me :O) but WHICH of your other two is it?
I don't have the RWS, although I posed this with specifically this card from the RWS in mind.
The answer IS in the poem, so no more clues LOL

Empress?
There seem to be daffodils at the front of the card :)

Sorry jmd, but no.
nope Moongold:O).... it's the other one you guessed originally... The Nine Pentacles, hehehe, but I'll give it to you anyway for guessing the right range of cards :O)
The first line mentions ' wandering lonely' and the last verse mentions 'solitude', and this fits in well with the relying on self attitude.
The self made woman who has done it alone would be an example.
It is often thought of as the rich in material, poor in relationships sort of card too. This is where the poignancy you speak of comes in.
"For oft, when on my couch I lie
In vacant or in pensive mood," this sort of sums up the alone and aloofness of the card. The woman enjoying her garden that she has worked hard on, reflecting on it's beauty, but there is 'something' missing. A reading may reflect whether the sitter minds that or not, I would expect.
Over to you Moongold, to vex us with your wily ways:O)
