What Card? X the Wheel of Fortune

Yeeha thanks Kaz :D that was a good one !! I had to guess it eventually !
Oh boy, Now it is my turn again. I have to be more tricky this time, my clues are always so eazzzy ! O.K. Here goes.....

Everything looks permanent until its secret is known. A rich estate appears to woman a fine and lasting fact; to a merchant, one easily created out of any materials, and easily lost. An orchard , good tillage, good grounds, seem a fixture like a gold mine, or a river, to a citizen; but to a large farmer, not much more fixed than the state of the crop. Nature looks provokingly stable and secular, but it has a cause like all the rest; and when once I comprehend that, will these fields stretch so immovably wide, these leaves hang so individually considerable? Permanence is a word of degrees. Everything is medial.

This is an excerpt from "essays and poems " by Emerson
( I love Emerson) :*

If anybody guesses this one first off.... straight away.... well, I will run to my bedroom, bury my head under the pillow face down , kick and thrash my legs and feet up and down and shout out..... "Nooooooooooo ! It's not fair, I tried so hard to trick everybody, ...... cards shmards !!!!!!!" :l :P

Only joking, you can take a guess if you really want to.... come on... I dare you !!!! })

allibee  09 May 2003

Dark Eyes  09 May 2003
Hahahahahahahahahahahahahahahaha!!!! }) No

But close you are Allibee

The next clue is....

All that glitters is not gold,
but in time the diamonds will unfold.

Go for it Allibee hahahahahahahahaha :D

Kiama  09 May 2003
This is a tricky one, and I'm stuck between going for a card based on the imagery in the first clue, or a card based on the deceptive side of 'all that glitters is not gold'.

Ah hell, I'll go for the 7 of Cups.

Kiama

Dark Eyes  09 May 2003
no, Kiama,
not the 7 cups. Maybe this is a little too difficult, I am used to having my clues guessed straight off, so I feel bad when they arn't. Oh, I'm crazy I know.
How about another clue......

We have enoughto live and bring the year about, but not an ounce to impart or to invest. Ah, that our genius were a little more of a genius! We are like millers on the lower levels of a stream, when the factories above them have exhausted the water. We too fancy that the upper people must have raised their dams.
If any of us knew what we were doing,or where we are going, then when we think we best know! We do not know today whether we are busy or idle. In times when we thought ourselves indolent, we have afterwards discovered, that much was accomplished, and much was begun in us. All our days are so unprofitable while they pass, that 'tis wonderful where or when we ever got anything of this which we call wisdom, poetry, virtue.
Quote from Emerson "essays and poems"

The clue would be
"If any of us knew what we were doing or where we are going"
And
"We do not know today whether we are busy or idle"
And
Perhaps I could use this .... Don't make comparisons with others around you, perhaps it is winter for you, summer is coming !

Dark Eyes  09 May 2003
No Allibee,
not 7 coins or the high priestess. Maybe this is too cryptic, or confusing. I am trying to come up with clearer clues. Damnabbit.......... I like that word Allibee hehehehehe :D

Try this one folks.......

External forces may appear to be at work, you may feel that changes are happening to you at random, but your stability does remain within you , central to your being, and you invite in fact an orderly plan into your life. Like a magnet, you attract and control your own destiny.
You are weaving the fabric of your life,....... before you weave however.... you must first ...... ?

allibee  09 May 2003
The Magician?

Dark Eyes  09 May 2003
no Allibee,
but good try all the same.
OMG I can't believe this.
I must go to bed now,but I will check in tomorrow morning.
I dream about these postings, all my dreams lately are tarot dreams. Does anybody else? or is it just silly me getting too involved with this?
Anyway, I luhuhuhuhuv this game, so until tomorrow, The last clue is
" In due course, you will pass others on your way "

GOOD LUCK

Dark Eyes  09 May 2003
I will add,,,,,,,,,, " In due course you will pass others on your way back" and it is a Major. :) D.E. Goodnight

allibee  09 May 2003
my LAST guess then is the Hermit .... sheesh, LOL

Phoenix_Down  09 May 2003

Wheel of Fortune?

Love and light

Crystalmynx xx

allibee  09 May 2003
methinks our Crystalmynx has it, well done both of you. I looked up the quotation and it's from 'Circles' which fits in with the Wheel..... but even knowing that I'm still left scratching my head on some of those clues! LOL

A.

Dark Eyes  09 May 2003
Yes, Our Crystalmynx does have it Allibee, yes It was from circles. You are quite observent.
With all the clues I was trying to get across the feeling of things aren't always going to be as bad as they seem. That sometimes we feel as though others have much more than we, that we are at the bottom and others are at the top.
On the wheel of fortune, you may well be at the bottom, the cycle is winter in your life, but what goes around comes around and it will soon be summer. On your way back up to the top of the wheel you will pass others who may well be back on their way down, so don't compare yourself to those who seem better off, they may be in their summer right now.
The feeling that all is out of your control with the wheel and that external forces are affecting you ...... I was trying to describe that you don't always feel that you have total control of what happens in your life, but with a wheel, the hub stays in the same place, like your soul, it is your stabilizing factor and cannot be changed. And that in fact, through this we do have control of our destiny and we actually move towards our fate rather than our fate moving towards us.

All that glitters is not gold, but the diamonds will soon unfold.... conveying things will improve, don't despair.
The line "we don't know today wether we are busy or idle"
Was to indicate the changes that come and how we become confused. Just when we think all is going well, we are suddenly falling off the wheel, we think we are idle, but we are in fact just waiting, all things in our lives have happened as a result of what we have done, therefor we have had our busy spells, and now we feel idle.
Does this help Allibee....? If you still don't understand my clues, ask me which ones and why. You certainly got close and tried very hard.
"Before you weave, you must .....spin !" That was just a cryptic to bring the word spin into the equation for a hint.
Happy regards to all
Dark Eyes.
