...when you go into a book store (A Barnes and Noble, a long drive from my house) and you feel disappointed because you ALREADY OWN (or have given away) every deck they have on display!
This has never happened to me before...I think I had most of the Oracles in thier display as well.
(sigh)
I think it's official now...I have too many tarot decks!
(and still an ever growing wish list of some I want!)

You know you have too many Tarot decks when...
*You go to a New Age/Pagan/occult shop and stand looking at their huge selection of decks saying...
"Got... Got... Got... Traded away... Got... Got... Not worth getting anyway... Got... Got...."
You know you've got too many Tarot decks when...
*You can identify a deck from just seeing its back for a couple of seconds.
You know you've got too many decks when...
*The shelves on your bookcase/Tarot case buckle under the weight...
You know you have too many decks when...
*Your friends are considering buying decks which are a little different to what they already have, so they come round your house to root through your collection before buying anything at a shop.
You know you have too many decks when...
*The New Age store nearest to you gives you bulk discount, or they give you a discount 'because they know you'. (And you pay half their wages because you spend so much money in there on decks!)
You know you have too many decks when...
*You regularly lose count of them, despite trying you hardest to keep track.
You know you have too many decks when...
*You are seriously considering insuring your collection separately to the rest of the house.
Sadly, all of these have happened to me. }) But it doesn't stop me collecting...

1. Vendors come to YOU for suggestions on which decks to stock. ;)
2. You sense ordinary high-street book stores are stocking a greater variety... just for YOU.
3. They send Christmas cards... wishing (hoping?) you have a prosperous new year?
(I sense the second of these may be true, even in my case)

When you turn to friends / co-workers / family and happily ask: "Guess what I've bought?" and they roll their eyes and reply with a sigh: "A tarot deck, as usual"... and they are always right!
Anjo
And than we reply "No, it wasn't a tarot deck.... it was a book about tarot!" :D

When you look guilty when your boyfriend returns home from work, and he immediately asks...
"You've bought another Tarot deck, haven't you?"

When you can't keep all your books and decks together anymore, and start looking at getting a special cabinet for them. A large cabinet.
When the only decks left on your "wanted" list are either new, not yet published, or cost as much as your car payment.

hi..here's my latest delema..
When you get ready to move, you pack them in a box, and the box is to heavy for you to lift..
AND THE BOX DOESN'T CONTAIN THE WHOLE COLLECTION...lol
Cj
PS..Then you worry because hubby took the box to the new house and your afraid you may need one of the decks, even though you still have 4 or 5 still floating around the old house...

I was at the gym working out yesterday and this guy had some tiny writing on his workout shorts...I thought it said Minor Arcana on his shorts (and I am wondering why?) I had to get a closer look...I nonchalantly took a few steps closer it said Under Armor...What was I thinking?!?! not even close!

Not quite the same BUT:
When you know your best friend has too many decks (I'm afraid im not a collecter myself)
When it's christmas or birthday, and you have to go hunting around the internet searching for one she hasn't already got, and when you do find an incredible rare one, just to find she's already got one of them.

as was mentioned before ~ you can never have too many tarot decks~
But you may want to consider slowing down the acquisition process (as I did about a year ago) when discovering that you are not even passingly acquianted with the last new deck before another arrives to distract you,
I became tarot-spoiled, a deck glutton.
"Hello, my name is Alison,
and I am a Taroholic"
Looking forward to my first new decks in about ??? maybe 6 months - maybe a year. What is time compared to tarot?

When you trot home all smug and puffy with glee, clutching your bag from the Woo-Woo Store....
and after going through your new deck and gloating, you run to the Tarot Place to put it away, and there, among the boxes, you see one that is strangely familiar.
It is, yes, the very same deck you hold in your hot little hand... which you forgot you already bought.
No more new decks for me. Unless David reprints his Tarot. I'm gonna work with what I got.

You may - in actual fact- have enough decks...OR... the supply is not meeting the demand and your subconcious is trying to keep you happy with the high of the buy, even if it wears off when the illusion bubble bursts.
I should have that many decks...

you know you have too many decks when you realize you are spending more and more on each new deck b/c you've already bought all the cheap ones. all that's left are the expensive, the self-published, the hard to find, and the ones not published.
you find your life evolving around the dates new decks are being published and getting a copy when they finally come out.
you don't dare tell your husband or significant other how many decks you've put on the credit card b/c you're afraid he'd divorce you...

I hang on to everything... I wish it were just Tarot Decks I have too many of!
I have at least ... well ... let's call it "a bunch" of tarot deck and book sets that need someone who loves them more than I, but the thought of seeing these unused decks leave my collection fills me with some horrible angst that even the promise of a deck I know I will love much more can not appease.
What... am I still 3 - hanging on to the shredded tatters of blanky because the new one won't do?
No. I am still 3 and I have abandonment issues:
I can't abandon any of my STUFF!

All is One... I know that feeling. I just traded a bunch of stuff, and it was agony! I had to force myself to part with stuff I didn't use to trade for stuff I did want. How silly is that!

I wonder if we are secretly afraid (or sure!) that we might just
turn right around and buy the traded away decks all over again!
Addiction...
