Ok, who's singing this song?
How many times do I have to say
To get away - get gone
Flip your **** past other lasses'
Humble dwelling
You got your game, made your shot, and you got away
With a lot, but I'm not turned-on
So put away that meat you're selling
Cuz I do know what's good for me -
And I've done what I could for you
But you're not benefitting, and yet I'm sitting
Singing again, sing, sing again
How can I deal with this, if he won't get with this?
'M I gonna heal from this; he won't admit to it
Nothing to figure out; I gotta get him out
It's time the truth was out that he don't give a
**** about me.
how many times can it escalate,
Till it elevates to a place I can't breathe?
And I must decide, if you must deride
That I'm much obliged to up and go
I'll idealise and realise that it's no
Sacrifice, because the price is paid, and
There's nothing left to grieve
******' go -
Cuz I've done what I could for you, and I do know what's
Good for me and I'm not benefitting, instead
I'm sitting singing again, singing again, singing again,
Sing, sing, sing again
How can I deal with this, if he won't get with this?
'M I gonna heal from this; he won't admit to it
Nothing to figure out; I gotta get him out
It's time the truth was out that he don't give a
**** about me.

8 of Cups...? What with the all the stuff about leaving and getting going.

That's possibly even better than what I was thinking, Kiama! But no, I was concentrating more on why the words are being said rather than the actions taken. xxx

I was thinking 5 Swords - a la Robin Wood, where two of the figures are walking away, one in defeat and the other practising an "I don't care" swagger. The attitude being that there's no point beating your head against a brick wall....

Another really good guess - close but not quite! I'm starting to worry now - when someone finally guesses I bet everyone else sits there thinking "she's mad, it doesn't fit at all". xxx

OK i'm more with it today, with out of it.
Erm, it sounds a bit like the 4 cups, but just a little while later in time just after she's getting use to being misserable.

No, I wasn't thinking of a Court Card, but it is one of the minors. xxx

No, I wasn't thinking of Pentacles, but that's a very good interpretation. It's definitely a minor, but not a Court card. I was reading the song as less defiant, more hurt. It's as though all the feelings she has are spilling out now that she has nothing left to lose. It's what she'd say if she could, to someone who's really hurt her.

Hmmmm - I did think of the 10 Swords before, purely in terms of "I've had as much as I can take". So that's my next guess.

This song reminds me of the 9 of wands.

Congrats LouiQ!
10 of Swords it is.
My reasoning behind it was that if the corpse (I was thinking RWS version) could speak to whoever caused them such pain, they would say something along these lines. Also, the lines about the sacrifice already being paid and nothing left to grieve; what greater sacrifice could this person give? The fact that the swords are in their back has always made me believe that they were betrayed by someone they trusted and held close. Would they still want that person? They lash out in anger and pain, wanting the person to go, but at the same time grieving for their loss, and wondering why.
So, the torch has been passed...

Thanks, Dark Angel! I like the way these games let us have fun and see others' approaches to the cards. For instance, I probably wouldn't have thought of your point about those swords coming from a loved one - a bit "et tu, Brute?"......
As I've done a few of these now, I'm quite happy to pass the baton over to the person with the nearest guess, which in this case is Black Dragon - BD, would you care to take up the challenge?
Edited to add: sorry - forgot to ask if anybody (particularly Dark Angel) minded before I ducked out!
