Hi all, I thought I'd re-start this one! These are lyrics to a Mediaeval Baebes song called 'Ah si Mon Moine'. It is in French, though I'll include the translation. The song is sung by a woman who wants a friar to dance with her, and she offers him many different 'friarly' things to tempt him. "Ah si mon moine voulait danser Un capuchon je lui donnerai. (Chorus) Danse, mon moine danse, Tu n'entends pas le danse, Tu n'entends pas moulin-lon-la, Tu n'entends pas mon moulin marcher. Ah si mon moine voulait danser, Un ceinturon je lui donnerai. (Chorus) Ah si mon moine voulait danser, Un chapelet je lui donnerai. (Chorus) Ah si mon moine voulait danser, Un beau psautier je lui donnerai. (Chorus) Si'l n'avait fait voeu de pauvreté, Bien d'autres chos' je lui donnerais. Ah if the friar would like to dance A monk's hood I would give him.
