Well, it's 1am over here, so if this one's horrendously easy, let me apologise in advance. It's by Marilyn Manson, one of my musical heroes.

The beauty spot was borrowed and
Now my sweet knife rusts tomorrow,
I'm a confession that is waiting to be heard.

Burn your empty rain down on me
Whisper your deathbeat so softly
We bend our knees
At the altar of my ego.

You drained my heart
And made a spade
But there's still traces of me
in your veins

All my lilies' mouths are open
Like they're begging for dope
And hoping
Their bitter petal chant
"We can kick, you won't be back."

I'm a diamond that is tired
Of all the faces I've acquired
We must secure the shadow
Ere the substance fades

You drained my heart
And made a spade
But there's still traces of me
in your veins...
And we said til we die
And we said til we die.

10 of Swords?

Dark_angel  02 Dec 2003
Sorry, that wasn't the card I was thinking of, but it's a good guess...

joya250  02 Dec 2003
5 of cups??

Dark_angel  02 Dec 2003
Guess again...

Mystic Zyl  02 Dec 2003
King of Cups

Dark_angel  02 Dec 2003
That's a brilliant one Mystic Zyl; I never imagined that anyone except me would be able to see positivity in a MM song...

... but it's not the card I was thinking of. Sorry!

Mystic Zyl  02 Dec 2003
Devil, because it sounds like obsession. How is that for positive, lol?

Dark_angel  03 Dec 2003
Sorry, no one's guessed it yet!

nocturnaldreamr  03 Dec 2003
...death?

some of the lyrics sound like a transformation, or letting go of the past and growing and learning.......maybe...

Dark_angel  04 Dec 2003
Nope... all good guesses though.

Mystic Zyl  04 Dec 2003
4 of Swords, sounds like this guy needs a rest and is a candidate for an anti depressant.

Dark_angel  04 Dec 2003
People are on the right track, but aren't quite there yet. Keep trying!

Mystic Zyl  04 Dec 2003
6 of Swords?

Dark_angel  04 Dec 2003
No, sorry! You are on the right track, though!

Mystic Zyl  04 Dec 2003
5 of Pentacles?

Dark_angel  04 Dec 2003
No, getting colder.

Mystic Zyl  04 Dec 2003
8 of Swords......going to guess all the swords eventually lol.

I am feeling desperate now. I want to win!

Dark_angel  04 Dec 2003
I don't think you've got much competition, lol! No one else seems to be posting.

I think I'm going to have a heck of a time explaining this one - it made sense at the time, though! xxx

gypsy_morrigan  04 Dec 2003
Ok, how about the 3 of Swords? Heartache, being stabbed by someone else...

That's a card I thought about, but not the one I finally chose.

There's definitely a lot of sorrow in the mystery card.

Bean Feasa  05 Dec 2003
Queen of Swords?

Dark_angel  05 Dec 2003
Yes!!!

Congratulations Bean Feasa!

There is a great deal of sorrow and pain in the song, but also of caring emotions hidden behind the aggression; her confession to weakness, the reference to flowers (shielded behind an impression of pain and anger). The Queen of Swords has always been a card of isolation and defiance, as well as compassion, to me, and these are some of the emotions evoked in me by this song.

The references to something of her remaining "in your veins" made me think of the Queen of Swords giving birth to her sons, the Knight and Page, and watching them ride into battle; this breaks her heart, and she cannot protect them, only hope that her blood can.

Of course, the reference to spades was a bit of a giveaway about the suit, lol.

Anyway, it's your turn Bean Feasa... :)

Mystic Zyl  05 Dec 2003
Well that does seem logical, (slapping my head), good going Bean Feasa.

Bean Feasa  08 Dec 2003
Wuhoo! Q of S is one of my favourite Tarot characters. I'd know her anywhere :)
