"Cowards die may times before their deaths;
The valiant never taste of death but once.
Of all the wonders that I yet have heard
It seems to me most strange that men should fear,
Seeing that death, a necessary end,
Will come when it will come."

~ William Shakespeare [hamlet]

Could it possibly be the Wheel Of Fortune card??

What goes around comes around, what goes up must come down etc. etc. The wheel forever turns and we cannot stop it ?

That is my first guess, but i have some others too.

Good one Dead Star, I like it a lot !! :)

Oh my Dark Eyes that was my first thought the Wheel.

So I'll say Hanged Man.

9 swords?

Star Spirit  12 Dec 2003
I like your ideas, but not so far :D

MattDouglas  12 Dec 2003
Swords kill. So the Ace of Swords would be the valliants' death. there's only one piercing of the crown.

The guy on 7/Wands Rider Waite looks as if he could be trying to ward off the inevitable.

The High Priestess?

Agathe  12 Dec 2003
the World

Diana  12 Dec 2003
The Sun (it always rises.......)

Mystic Zyl  12 Dec 2003
Strength

Star Spirit  13 Dec 2003
Sorry guys I almost forgot all about this game! :( None so far. Think more of the quote as a whole, in its general meaning.

MattDouglas  13 Dec 2003
The 7 of Cups. All the fantastical possibilities, but one cup has a skull on it.

gloria  13 Dec 2003
I shall stay with 8/Swords.

Mystic Zyl  13 Dec 2003
Hermit?

Star Spirit  14 Dec 2003
You guys all did great but gloria gets it. Wise choice my dear :D 8 of Swords.

Here's why. I interpreted the quote as expressing how pointless it is to fear something that is inevitable, for it is that fear that harms you more. I chose the 8 of Swords because it speaks of the same thing: Being afraid to move in a situation, to speak, to do, for fear of getting "cut" by others. But moving and getting cut is the only way out of the situation, and it is your own fears that are keeping you in it.

Over to you, gloria.

That's great - thanks Dead Star! :)
I'd better start thinking........
