I took this from the Illias/Illiad by Homerus. You have to know to fully understand this clue that, in the book, the Trojan War has been terrible. The protector, hero and hope of Troy, Hektor, has been killed by Achilles. Priamos, king of Troy, father of Hektor, has now gone to the tent of Achilles to ask for the body of his son, so that he can be burried. The two enemies - the Trojan king and the great Greek hero - face each other... After Priamos asks for the body of Hektor in a very diplomatic, humble, but powerful speech, this is what Homerus writes:
__________
That's what he [priamos] said, and he hereby made him [achilles] want to cry about his own father. After he had touched the hands of the old man, he gently pushed him further. Both were thinking - Priamos thought about the great Hektor, cried loud and kneeled before the feet of Achilles. Achilles on the other hand cried about his father and about Patroklos [achilles' best friend who had been killed by hektor] .
Their cries could be heard all through the tent.

There is so much sorrow here and weariness from the war. And lessons have been learned. Could it be the Hermit?

Gloria, Diana and Moonbow*, it's good to see you all here! Strength, the Hermit and Judgement are good guesses, but not the card I chose... I hope you're all gonna stay guessing, though!
Like last time, don't concentrate too much on the traditional meanings, nor the traditional images... I took the card more for its spirit, its essence...

Death! Not because of death per se but because of the forgiveness which goes with it.

Agathe, Gloria, Dark_Angel and Mystic Zyl, the cards you chose would all be very appropriate for the loss and pain those two people experience, but I saw it as something "bigger" than that.
Moonbow* and Jewel-ry chose cards that could be appropriate here also, seen more in the big picture, BUT it's Diana who's right: it was the 2 of Cups!
Why? First of all, this is a very emotional part, so Cups are very applicable: emotions and feelings are not just happiness and joy, it's pain and sadness too. It's a two: this part speaks of a duality, of two opposites who meet. Priamos and Achilles both listen to each other, they are united in their pain and loss, in their feelings. Two so very different people come together here, two enemies even! The two cups remind me of the two cups of Temperance - a union, a coming together, a resolving - and those of the Star - a moment of hope, of peace and of calmness...
So a big congratulations to my cyber-sibling Diana .
Warm regards to everyone,

Hooray! I love these Literature Quotes - it's the best way to see the cards from so many different viewpoints.
Of course, now that spoonbender and I are cyber-siblings, it means we are on the same wavelength.... until such time that one of us changes our signature of course! (Naah, you'll ALWAYS be my cyber-sibling, spoonbender.)
Okay, it's 1am in the morning now - far too late to go and find a quote. But tomorrow, the SHOW WILL GO ON!!!!
