Apolgies for being flippant here but couldn't resist it.
On a more serious note - how about the Magician? The Master of Illusion.

firemaiden: What a strange quote.......

The Fool?

firemaiden  05 Jan 2004
Yes, Henri Michaux writes very strange things :D

I think the 7 of cups was a great guess, pretty close actually, there are certainly illusions here, and the master of illusion was a wonderful guess for the same reason. The King of cups too, hee hee, wonderful interpretations. I like the idea of the fool for this too... however, as a friend of mine is fond of saying, none of these are the card I had in mind, keep guessing.

:D :D :D

9 cups - cloud nine card!

J :)

MattDouglas  05 Jan 2004
Death!!

If he doesn't like something, he just gets rid of it.

firemaiden  05 Jan 2004
You know, the nine of cups is a lovely idea, because certainly the poet is getting his wishes fulfilled. :) As for Death, there is some of that, lovely thought, isn't it, about just taking someones ears off, and nose, if you don't like them....

But no... still not the card I had in mind... but close!

Diana  05 Jan 2004
Taking charge of his life..... (in the afternoons at least).

Wheel of Fortune?

firemaiden  05 Jan 2004
hahahah! getting close Diana! very close!

Jewel-ry  05 Jan 2004
One last guess - 7 Swords - hidden secrets (I know, I know, its late!)

Jewel-ry is going to bed now. Maybe it'll come to me in my dreams!!??

J :)

MattDouglas  05 Jan 2004
How about The Star?

Bathing in a river naked is definitely living the simple life. Also, theres lots of hope here; hope for what's left after all else has been removed, which in this case is usually body parts.

firemaiden  05 Jan 2004
Wonderful ideas! I love the idea of the star for this, hmmm, yes. Simplicity, I hadn't thought of it that way.

As for the seven of swords, Jewel-ry, you're on to something...

Still not the card yet, keep guessing!!

Mystic Zyl  05 Jan 2004
page of swords a smooooth operator.

Jewel-ry  06 Jan 2004
How about the 5 swords? Getting a certain amount of pleasure from someone elses pain.

J :)

Dark Eyes  06 Jan 2004
The magician is very clever, .... I also think he is quite spunky in some decks ahahahaha

Perhaps it is he......?

:D

gloria  06 Jan 2004
7/Wands?
Positive thinking wins through?

firemaiden  06 Jan 2004
Hahaha,

Mystic Zil, that's a fun interpretation of the page of swords, and would make sense here too.

Jewel-ry, I like your take on the five of swords, (I'll remember that for the next sado-maso quote from Baudelaire...)

Sorry Dark eyes, still not the magician -- although I think its a wonderful interpretation for this quote,

Gloria you are on to my vein of thinking with the seven of wands, still not the card though :D

Diana  06 Jan 2004
10 of Coins.

He sounds like he really has it made....

firemaiden  06 Jan 2004
"Has it made", hahaha, well, that's the sort of thing I was thinking Diana, but still not the card. Neener Neener :P

MattDouglas  06 Jan 2004
Three of Pentacles!!!

It does show a guy wth a chisel, and he is working. But he seems distracted by something else and is looking off. A pretty lady perhaps?

firemaiden  06 Jan 2004
Hilarious... Matt you are very creative... chisel... hahahah.... but nope, sorry :P

gloria  06 Jan 2004
How about The Chariot?
This guy is able to exert his will......without raising his wand!!! :)

firemaiden  06 Jan 2004
bing-bing-bing-bing-bing-bing-bing-bing!!!

aaaaaaaaaaaand the winner is GLORIA!!!! with the chariot!!

I have often though of the chariot as the vehicle of internal voyages, or travels through the imaginary in the time-space warp, using the steering mechanism of the will/mind/imagination...

(Michaux was a meek little man, he certainly never cut anyone's ears off, and I seriously doubt he'd have bed too many women...)

gloria  06 Jan 2004
Thankyou Firemaiden!

So it was all in his mind then? - Thank goodness for that!!!

I shall be back.
