The plumber was digging around in the pipes and he saw something shine in the muck.
It turned out to be the soul of the last tenant.
He gave it to me and I said "I wonder how we can return it."
He shrugged, and said he found stuff like that all the time.
"You'd be amazed what people lose," he said.

Well, what card am I? :)

Agathe  06 Jan 2004
That's a good one gloria.
For some reason I would go for 5 of Cups. Don't ask me why.

Mystic Zyl  06 Jan 2004
5 of swords

Bluemanticore  06 Jan 2004
What the heck, 5 of pentacles? :)

MattDouglas  06 Jan 2004
10 of Pentacles.

The bosch deck originally made me think of this one. Though i suppose it fits standard interpretations as well. Great success in the world enjoying what it has to offer vs. getting stuck in materialism and losing all the joy.

If souls have been left behind whilst people move on....

I say... 10 of Swords !

A card I see as a snake shedding it's skin, putting the past behind and no matter how terrible life can get, there is life ahead still.

Dark eyes.

I think this is a perfect interpretation of 10 Swords.

Matt I got same vibes as you with 10/Discs but it wasn't the one I chose.

No winners yet, sorry.

Diana  07 Jan 2004
For me it must be a Coin....

Which one, though. Damn, this is hard.

Losing a soul, finding a soul, giving a soul back.... I think this reminds me a lot of the energy of the 2 of Coins.

This is the hardest clue I've ever seen on this forum.

Dark Eyes  07 Jan 2004
I wonder if it could be the Devil... ?

A soul could be lost or left behind as the person moves on without his inhibitions...?

MattDouglas  07 Jan 2004
Still on the pentacles/disks/coins idea.
How about the 7 of Pentacles?
The guy seems to be holding some sort of garden tool (shovel, hoe, etc). Is he missing the ones on the bush and is thus digging through the dirt?

Agathe  07 Jan 2004
Hmmmm, it is hard indeed.
How about Judgment...perhaps?

jmd  07 Jan 2004
XIII (Death)?

gloria  07 Jan 2004
Hi there! I have struggled to get back here all morning.

"This is the hardest clue I've ever seen on this forum."
Diana, I cannot believe you have said this!!
But no not 2/Discs.... no striking of balance here.

Good thinking Matt and Agathe but not the one.
Sorry JMD but not Death. Sadly in this case it isn't about change and transformation.
The Devil is a good guess Dark-Eyes. But more for being 'chained' to him and thereby losing your 'soul' to him.

PS Diana and JMD...Our minds are on different wave-lengths I know when it comes to interpretating the various cards.
Just to say the key-words I used in no way implied these were the take you had, but there for clue purposes only. :)

joya250  07 Jan 2004
okay, I popped in for a bit of procrastination... and thought I'd give this puzzle a try... of course I am at an advantage, as people have eliminated some probable guesses...

errrrrr, uhhhh, this IS tough! I've narrowed it down to a few more choices...

................... the tower???

(structure/tenants/loss of egos, constructed-souls, etc... )

Mystic Zyl  07 Jan 2004
7 of Cups, too much distract, losing sight of what is important even your soul.

gloria  07 Jan 2004
Hi Joya..good to see you here. :)
Eventually The Tower will make it's presence felt.....but not yet.

Losing sight of what is important Mystic. Right lines but not the card.

joya250  07 Jan 2004
LOL -- ahhh! you're killing me, o'mysterious one! :D

Mystic Zyl  07 Jan 2004
8 of swords, trapped in mental turmoil on one problem, and not focusing on the big picture the soul.

gloria  07 Jan 2004
You know I've been so intent with your clues Mystic, I'd forgotten all about my own here!
No, not 8/Swords, off beam there.

Come on now Joya, you won't find time to procrastinate here. Do you have a card in mind? :) Spit it out!

MattDouglas  07 Jan 2004
The Fool!!!

He doesn't care what he loses. He also finds some very interesting stuff.

gloria  07 Jan 2004
You were far closer with your first guess Matt!

urbandryad  07 Jan 2004
Okay, going for the long haul on this, but, 5 of Pentacles?

The feeling of loss of what is important, a feeling of 'want' of something that is missing, I suppose...

Thats my 2 cents..

MattDouglas  07 Jan 2004
Page of Pentacles!!

He m,ay only have the one pentacle but he's treasuring it.

joya250  07 Jan 2004
okay, how about the 4 of Pentacles. That was another one that made the cut.

how people "gain the world" but "lose their soul"

..... huh? huh? did I win? did I win??? :D

gloria  08 Jan 2004
Good guess there Dee_Dolly and welcome to the game. :)

But our ANGEL-IN-TRAINING JOYA IS THE WINNER!!
"gaining the world - but losing their soul" That's just right!

Whenever I see this card I get a vision of a totally materialistic person.(IMO). So intent is he in hanging on tight to the possessions and ‘things’ he has accumulated, he fails to notice that these very ‘things’ now possess him. No way can he let go of them, he is a slave to their every whim.
In the RWS card the most vital chakra points are covered by the 4 discs, symbolizing that he has closed himself off from spirit, from other people and also from the world around him.
This ‘prison’ he lives in has cost him dearly. He has lost his freedom, his sense of self-worth, and his spiritual growth.

That surely must have been his soul they found then!!!

OVER TO YOU JOYA!!!!!

joya250  08 Jan 2004
yayayayay!

wow. that was TOUGH! (which makes the victory all that much sweeter! haha)

.... okay, uh, over to me? Does that mean I get to post a riddle now???

thanks, joya the big winnah
