"Don't wait for the last judgment. It takes place every day." - Albert Camus

jmd  18 Jan 2004

XX Judgement?

I doubt it can be the right card...

:):):)

Dark_angel  18 Jan 2004
:)

Sorry JMD, I was tempted, but chose something else.

Rusty Neon  18 Jan 2004
8/11 Justice, perhaps.

jmd  18 Jan 2004
...Justice was my second choice... so how about the daily motions:
    X the Wheel of Fortune ?

MattDouglas  18 Jan 2004

Change is the one constant.

Black dragon  19 Jan 2004

Dark_angel  19 Jan 2004

Mystic Zyl  19 Jan 2004
Hermit

ncefafn  19 Jan 2004

Black Dragon.

Jewel-ry  19 Jan 2004
The Sun, because if it decided not to rise in the morning we'd all be in big trouble!! lol

J :)

jmd  19 Jan 2004
Jewel-ry... I think you've probably got it. It lights up the whole quote!

...but just in case, how about
    I the Baleteur/Magician

Rusty Neon  19 Jan 2004
The Tower, perhaps

Dark_angel  20 Jan 2004
The quotation is from Camus, and I'm sorry to disappoint you all... no one's got it yet.

However, Jewel-ry is now official runner-up, as her idea was something I had not thought of, and does bring a whole new perspective to the quotation.

Dark_angel  20 Jan 2004
Don't give up guys!

I'll give you a little clue? Who judges us the most?

mercenary30  20 Jan 2004
Hierophant?

Dark_angel  20 Jan 2004
Ooooh, so close! Keep trying...

MysticOpal  20 Jan 2004
the World

MysticOpal  20 Jan 2004
oh wait, how about the Empress...our mother???

Dark_angel  20 Jan 2004
Nope. Which person in this world is hardest upon us? Who creates doubt most often?

WolfyJames  20 Jan 2004
The Emperor?

Jewel-ry  20 Jan 2004
OOhh Dark_angel,

This is so hard......Moon... inner demons etc

Jewel-ry

WolfyJames  20 Jan 2004
The Hermit, the King Of Swords?

WolfyJames  20 Jan 2004

WolfyJames  20 Jan 2004
The Devil?

Dark_angel  20 Jan 2004
WolfJames and Jewel-ry, you are both sooooo close.....

WolfyJames  20 Jan 2004

WolfyJames  20 Jan 2004

WolfyJames  20 Jan 2004
Four Of Cups?

MysticOpal  20 Jan 2004
the star

Dark_angel  20 Jan 2004
Inner demons.... inner demons....

WolfyJames  20 Jan 2004
The High Priestess?

WolfyJames  20 Jan 2004
Strength?

Dark_angel  20 Jan 2004
Getting cold again. If it helps, think about what you know of me, and think who is probably my worst enemy.

MattDouglas  20 Jan 2004
Temperance!!!

Our harshest critic is ourselves!
Or more to the point our unconscious. Temperance often is about the unconscious becoming conscious.
Dark angel may be judged harshest by a light angel, and the one on the RWCS Temperance card, seems pretty light in color to me.

Lorem  21 Jan 2004
I'm so bad at these games...

Nine of pentacles?

jmd  21 Jan 2004
Magician;
High Priestess/Papesse;
Empress;
Emperor;
Hierophant/Pope;
Justice;
Hermit;
Wheel of Fortune;
Strength;
Hanged Man;
Temperance;
Death;
Devil;
Tower;
Star;
Moon;
Sun;
Judgement;
World;
Fool;

4 Cups;

9 Coins;

2 Swords;
4 Swords;
5 Swords;
9 Swords;
10 Swords;
Queen Swords;
King Swords;

That's all suggestions thus far...

after that last clue, I too would have said Temperance... so how about 6 Coins?

Dark_angel  21 Jan 2004
Eeek! Maybe my interpretation of this is off, or something?

I was looking through the Medieval Scapini deck when I chose this card, if that helps any?

I think WolfyJames is still the closest, but telling you how would make it too easy.

mercenary30  21 Jan 2004
Your own insecurity, or lack of confidence. The judgement of yourself inadequite to proceed......

Dark_angel  21 Jan 2004
YES! Mercenary30 has got it!

In the Medieval Scapini, a man hangs trapped between eight swords, while another man, a judge, tries him for his 'crimes'. I see this as an internal scenario, as the man sees his own faults much larger than they are; a daily judgement, and final.

"I'm not good enough"
"I'm not clever - I didn't do well in that test"
"I mustn't be pretty - that guy/girl didn't want to date me"

It works the other way too, as people can blow up their own talents way out of proportion to their achievements:

"I'm gorgeous - no one will not find me attractive"
"I'm a genius, bound to get into Harvard - I aced that math test after all"
"I'm perfect".

So, our judgements of ourselves tend to go to the extreme, and stay with us long after the initial thought, and we judge ourselves every second of our lives.

The clue, "think of me", was referring to Lucifer, a dark angel, whose own worst enemy was himself as he thought he was so wonderful he deserved more power than he could handle. His own arrogance, his final judgement that he was the best, meant his beauty was twisted and scarred, and he became his own worst enemy.

Your turn, mercenary30. Congrats!

Jewel-ry  21 Jan 2004
Well done mercenary!
Good one Dark_angel! I'm so glad someone got it, I was beginning to think we were going to run out of cards :D

J :)

jmd  21 Jan 2004
Well done indeed Mercenary30... and living up to your name too: it was the 30th suggestion! :)
