This is an old quotation from 'The Fisher King' (I think):
"Fear death by drowning."
Happy guessing!

Ace of Cups?
I mean, if you confuse the Ace of Cups with a swimming pool, you may find it hard to climb out and that's pretty scary.

I'd say the Queen of Cups; how easy it's to get drown into a see of feelings.

The Hanged Man? (This card is also known as The Drowned Man)

King of Cups!
He sometimes seems a little nervous surrounded by that ocean.

Since the couple of cards I would first have also suggested have been already mentioned, how about:
The Papess/High Priestess ?

The Star - she could always fall in face first lol :D

Not yet, I'm afraid.
The Hanged Man was the card initially meant (I think) by the author, but I ended up choosing something different.
Diana's closest so far, I think.

The Moon?
There's danger and a warning.
If you fail to find the right path during the night, you might drown.

I suspect you've got it, Lady Mary - that would have been my choice but you've beaten me to it!

10 of Cups?
You can most definitely drown in those...
10 of Cups can be a card of such illusion. Can be scary for those who sees a loved one falling into them.

Ten of swords?
I have the crystal deck where swords are associated with water. I've just drawn this card in a reading, am meditating on it and thinking how the 'untergang' - "going under" aspect of the card is clearer here when the swords are water. In fact this card reminds me of someone who has just fallen through the ice.

The Chariot?
I say this only because I am sat here looking at the Haindl Chariot (for jmd's 78 card study) and the vehicle he controls is a boat with wheels and there is water and waves. The chariot is a little about facing or controlling your fears and has something to do with Cancer (the crab with the hard shell)
Doh! I dont know ... it is getting late ... thats my excuse and I'm sticking to it :D

Maybe the 2 of Cups if these two drink too much ...

All good answers, but not the one I was thinking of.
I'll still say Diana and Lady Mary's answers are closest.

I think it may be [/color]. Time to take things all in moderation or one may overdo something and drown in it. ! ..?

Nope. You are on the right track with the Cups, but there's still some way to go.
What can you drown in?

Fish can't drown. (RW Page of Cups)
But I will say Page of Cups because people are not fish (or so I am told).

Sorry jmd. Thanks for pointing that out. I only saw your list and thought "goody, the Page of Cups is still free.....". :)
Okay, seeing as jmd got there before me, I will have to say the Knight of Cups. Horses are not the best swimmers, are they?

How about 4/Cups?

Ok, time for another clue.
It's not in the suit of Cups.

What about 6 Swords - they are on the water, the boat could tip. The figures are sitting close together, could be afraid of the water.

Nope, not yet.
I'm starting to think I may have got this one wrong in my own mind, so please someone guess it soon.
It's to do with the nature of the Cups, but not in the suit.

Lady Mary has it!
Love can indeed be dangerous - people can become so involved in each other that they forget who they are as individuals; the loss of individuality is like a death.
