Here's ther beginning of a story. Anyone who wants, continue it according to a card:

(Fool)Once upon a time there was a young man who was feeling that he had to make a few changes in his life. He packed his bag, took his faithful dog Fido and set out on his way. On the way, he passed by a cliff. Being the sentimental sort, he climbed it in order to see the view. As he was observing, Lo and behold! he saw A person waiting there for him. The person told him" I am

The person told him" I am intriqued by innoncence and pure lust, my fine man, where are you about today?"
The Fool recoiled from the creature standing before him - he didnt dare look into his face or into his eyes - inside he was crying for help, for who knows what the devil can do to you.
The devil saw all this as if the Fool was crying out loud, and laughed so the mountain they stood on shivered - "my dear friend, I wont do you no harm - LOL - unless you ask me to ;) Why are you so afraid of me? - only thing I stand for is that you should stay true and honest to your self"
The Fool stuttered "Please dont chain me and let me burn in hell, I have a full life ahead of me, and I so really dont wanna go with you"
The Devil said "that is all very fine with me, you know where to find me should you ever need something extra to spice up your life, whuahaha, and by the way, just so you know. I am no where near as bad as.....

tmgrl2  10 Mar 2004
At that moment, an angry but sad young man who had been lurking behind The Fool and Death, stepped forward:

"I heard that....I know you are talking about me...and I'm NOT bad...I'm sad....You would be too, if you just broke up with your fiancee, your dog died, your rare golden bird few away, you lost all your wealth at dice in the market, and you had a rash all over that's so bad you had to wear this long, ugly black cape..."

FIVE OF CUPS slouches next to the Fool and places his head in his hands...

"And I drank the wine in three large chalices before I heard you talking to someone...where did he go anyway?....I left the other two cups filled with wine...I know that drinking my problems away isn't the solution. How do you always stay so up, so happy...what kind of "fool" are you?

"That IS who I am....The Fool...not "a" fool...there's a big difference. You can't just feel sorry for yourself and keep wishing for all you have lost to come back. You were meant to lose those things...and now you must suffer the sorrow and learn from the pain. I can help you...Oh, look, here comes....."

Dark Eyes  13 Mar 2004
............ "Here comes the Empress, and she is carrying with her a fine basket of fruit".

The Devil bade the fool and the 5 of cups Adieu and then turned and bowed before the Empress. " Gooday Mam, I will be on my way, but I'm sure you will be able to help these two fine fellows to find the right path as they journey through the Abyss ahead.

Allow them to take some of your earthly produce to sustain them if you please, and a token of your heart in the form of a hug.

I will never be far away, and gentlemen, If you should need me, just ..............

tmgrl2  13 Mar 2004
As The Devil swirled away in a cloud of orange, acrid-smoke, The Fool and the 5 of Cups, heads tilting backward, noses covered with their cloaks, turned to each other.

"Who was that?" said 5

"You don't really want to know," said the Empress. " Not now, not in the state you're in. Sadness is a an open door to that One. What you need is some fun, something to eat, by the looks of you."

"Well, I don't know about fun. This pall of sadness weighs heavily on my soul. I have just lost the one I love. I cannot drink another cup of wine. I must find another way to move on. She isn't coming back. I will travel with both of you if you'll have me."

A broad grin spread across the Fool's face. Even his dog, Ruff, noticed. Ruff smiled too. (Dogs do smile in some worlds)
Jumping up and down on all fours, Ruff barked three loud barks, and dashed off away from the cliff edge into the field.

"Where's he headed?" asked the Fool.

"Back to the Fair. I met this lovely Empress there last night, though she has yet to tell my why she is so-called. She was to meet me here today so we could go again at Midday. There are wonderful pigs on the spit, roasted lamb, sweet-treats, pies, freshly-baked breads of whole grain oats, wheat, sunflower, flax, candy spun into flaxen puffs that melt in your mouth with bursts of flavor. You will forget about wine there and fill your stomach with good food. It is never good to be hungry, angry, lonely or tired. We can take care of the first, then head for their giant Wheel of Fortune. There sits a seer, man or woman, who knows which, but you can ask about your troubles. "

The Empress, who was wise and worldly, but nurturing, let the Fool's enthusiasm fill their space. She would join them. In time, she would have much to offer this sad young man. She passed them each her basket so they might choose some fruit. The fool grabbed a firm, dark-red apple. The young man found a hard yellow nectarine and as he took a bite, asked:

"Can I bet upon the Wheel? Or is does it only bring Fortune of a another kind?"

"Why of course you can! " said the Fool. " There are games of chance, contests of strength of wit and body. There is something for everyone here. Just the laughter of the children should cheer you up."

A smile crept across the 5 of Cups Face. He had the tender, the gold and silver coins. Perhaps with this fine fellow and this lovely fair farm maiden he could find some answers to his sadness and share some good luck winnings at the Wheel. This poor Fool looked too young, too thin, too happy to know much about life. And only a Fool would travel with nothing but a small knapsack on a stick. And for course, that scruffy looking dog. And with money, well, with money, who knows what they could buy....

"Well then, " said 5, "we'd better be off to find some answers and, if you think, some fun."

5 of Cups was doubtful, but some inner niggling voice told him that maybe this young Fool may have more to offer than his appearance and manner suggested. And who knows about this woman. She seems to have the world in order. And she bears a wise demeanor. Not too bad to look at either.

Off into the fields they walked, arm in arm, Ruff up ahead, running back, barking and charging forward again....They could hear the Fair before they could see it. But as they drew nearer, they saw someone running toward Ruff.....a feeling of dread came over the Fool as he recognized.....

The Princess of Swords....(drawn randomly)

I'm not really all that frightening, Fool..Don't know why you are looking so fearful! I'm just taking some Archery Practice today, that's what I'm doing with my trusty bow and arrow. I seek to hurt no one, but won't put up with any you know what either!!

So, as long as you and your friends are passing through, Thats fine with me...Just don't try to damage anything on my property or you'll hear from me...

with that, the Princess Of Swords turned away walking back down the wooded path...followed by a pair of raccoons...

the three of them continued maraly on there way not realy paying atention to what they were stepping on

befor long the fool ( who was walking behind the emperess) felt a bony finger tap him on the sholder , with a little fear in his heart he turned and found himself looking in the empty eye sockets of DEATH ....

death said to the three of them "do you mind watching what you are walking on .... you might be able to take a lovley stroll in the forest anytime you want but you never stop to think about what you are stepping on . in the past few steps you have killed several ants 4 beetles and 5 spiders and guess who has to come and guide them to the after life ...."

"with only the pale light of the harvest moon to guide me..."

Just then, DEATH and the others felt a warm breeze flutter by, and from above came a booming voice....loud but very gentle and soothing:

"It would be my pleasure to light the way for you tonight, as the path can be strange and cruel in the darkness....perhaps you have a question for me?" The MOON paused and waited for a reply from below.

The FOOL giggled suddenly, even surprising himself. He quickly covered his mouth with both hands and ran to hide behind the Empress' purple cape, peering out slowly and stifling another nervous cackle.

The Princess of Swords stood quietly, trying to formulate her question before speaking...she watched the others, hoping someone else might speak first.

The Five of Cups staggered toward DEATH, nudging him gently....but DEATH stood stoically and did not speak.

Suddenly, there came a noise of rustling leaves....from out of the darkness, a figure was slowly approaching them....

closrapexa  16 Mar 2004
...and it was The Queen of Swords.
"How dare you come here?! You are standing on the grave of my husband!!!"
"Mother!"said the Princess, "I was just showing them out of our property."
"No," her mother said," the punishment is Death. And you, daughter, don't meddle in things that don't concern you!"
Death stepped up and said:"Death comes in many forms, it is not for you to decide how and when it is to be given. I am the one who decides that, when I see fit, or when people are ready to accept what I have to give."
"And, I, mother, am an independant person. I will fall under your yolk no longer!" cried out the princess of swords.
The Queen smiled enigmatically, and said...

bec  16 Mar 2004
Finally my daughter shows her upbringing, standing up for her self: "I do love you so much my girl". The queen of swords turns all soft and humble, turning to Death and bows: "I am sorry to have threatend with a weapon I do not hold in my hands, exept my opologies for I have trespassed you bounderies".

Death exepts the apology for he knows what the cold and harsh mountains will do to man kind. As he gracefully leaves the company, the moon takes her parture to make room for the sun's rise. Now that darkness has lifted, the Fool, the Page of Swords, the Queen of Swords, the 5 of cups and the Empress could get a real good look at each other, and they simply had to laugh, for what a remarkable troup they were indead.

The Page of swords, still on her gards for what to exspect from her mother, and the Queen of swords goes arm in arm, talking and laughing toward their home.

The Empress says to 5 of cups "remember healing takes time, yes you have lived through tragedies, time will heal them. No matter what you decide to use your time in life on, time will pass and become yesterday" Like a ligtning bolt hit the 5 of cups, he realizes that the ugly black cloak his is wearing, is really not black, but dark green and a bit dirty - "there is hope!" he thinks to himself, and starts his own journey, because he already wasted so much of life feeling sorry for him self.

The Fool and Empress walks together side by side - The Fool is smithend by the beauty of the Empress and the Empress is equal smithend by the innoncence and pure heart of the Fool. In the sunraids together they continue the road of.....

...youth. Who know's what will become of these lovers? And death has helped our fellow five of cups because in death there is new begining, to be out with the old and in with the new! So he is filled with life.

So down the trail they proceed, in the air the smell of popcorn is a promise of the fair grows stronger. Laughter fills their hearts as they near the end of the woods and burst out into the scene of the fair.

Music is playing, people are dancing, and the troop splits up in search of entertainment. The princess of swords grabs the fool and yells, " Look tarot readings! We must dear friend, define our future!" So they bustle over and greet the gypsy.

"Good day," she waves, and hurries them back into her tent. "and aye, what can I do fer ya today?" The princess smiles, and nudges the fool, "we'd like our cards read, tell us gypsy what does the oracle say?"

The old woman smiles as she shuffles, and lays the spread, "um interesting...looks as if..."
