It is the fools and knaves that make the wheels of the world turn. They are the world; those few who have sense or honesty sneak up and down single, but never go in herds.

- George Saville

I don't really agree with his cynicism though

What card am I? :)

Page of Swords? My Art Nouveau shows a *very* sneaky young man... Vigilance, spying, and all that. :)

ncefafn  05 Mar 2004
The obvious, just to get it out of the way: The Wheel of Fortune.

Agathe  05 Mar 2004
7 of swords?

alsie  05 Mar 2004
Hello everyone
Nobody has it so far :( It isn't the page of swords although he is a bit clever and sneaky.

Not the wheel of fortune I'm afraid (didn't want to go for the obvious :P ). And also not the 7 of swords although it does fit the lone wolf sneaking about theme. Guess again...

Alsie

ncefafn  05 Mar 2004
The Devil, the little devil!

Kim

Dark Eyes  05 Mar 2004
oooooooooooooooooooh...................

Interesting Alsie,

How about the Hermit... he is individual and single, he does things his own way when he wants to...?

...............:|

contrascarpe  05 Mar 2004
My guess is The Chariot.

Dan

lionette  05 Mar 2004
I'll try - the 8 of pentacles?

alsie  06 Mar 2004
Good morning everyone :)

It isn't the 8 of pentacles Lionette. And it isn't the Devil Kim.

It isn't the chariot either Dan. I hadn't thought of that until you said it, but I see what you mean. Standing against your opposition etc. But no.

And Dark Eyes, it isn't the Hermit I'm afraid.

More guesses please...

Alsie

jmd  06 Mar 2004
Tower ?

alsie  06 Mar 2004
No, not the Tower.

Alsie

jmd  06 Mar 2004
Ok... so far, not:
    Chariot
    Hermit
    Wheel of Fortune
    Devil
    Tower

    8 Coins

    7 Swords
    Page Swords

How about, in the RWCS version, the 2 Staffs/Wands/Batons ?

alsie  06 Mar 2004
Nope sorry not the 2 of wands either Jmd. Thanks for doing the list :)

Alsie

Justice?

kwaw  06 Mar 2004
Knave of Coins?

Kwaw

alsie  06 Mar 2004
No neither of those (Justice or the knave/page of coins).

A lot of these are good cards that would fit part of the theme, but I think so far the chariot and justice have been the closest to mine.

Alsie

MattDouglas  06 Mar 2004
How bout the...

8 of cups!

The man or woman in the card seems to be traveling solitary.

alsie  06 Mar 2004
Good guess Matt, but it isn't right :) Like I said Justice was the nearest I think, so think along those lines.

Alsie

ncefafn  06 Mar 2004
I'm going to guess the 4 of Swords, since when you're the only honest person at the party, the only thing you can do is go into hiding.

Kim

gloria  06 Mar 2004
The Queen of Swords?

alsie  06 Mar 2004
No neither the queen of swords or the 4 of swords. But getting warmer :)

Alsie

lionette  06 Mar 2004
How 'bout the King of Swords?

tmgrl2  06 Mar 2004
Temperance? terri

alsie  06 Mar 2004
Sorry Lionette, it isn't the King of swords although he is very just and honest. And it isn't Temperance Terri.

Maybe a bit of a clue is called for...perhaps other people don't hear the same thing in the quote as I do. So...just to clarify...

Often honest people are overcome by dishonest people simply because they use numbers or unfair means to gain the advantage. And this is the bit my card illustrates. Hope that hasn't given it away totally :)

Alsie

MattDouglas  06 Mar 2004
Hanged Man!!!!

Because he's honest he gets hung!

alsie  06 Mar 2004
:D

That is quite amusing...the way you put that Matt. Although it isn't the right answer! But it is funny...hang the innocent party hmmm :P

Ok I will be back tomorrow. I expect someone will have guessed by the time I've got up and had breakfast

Seven/Wands?

alsie  07 Mar 2004
Good morning Gloria :)

Not the 7 of wands I'm afraid. I think I should do a quick update of the guesses that were wrong...

Chariot
Hermit
Wheel of Fortune
Devil
Tower
Justice
Temperance
Hanged Man

8 Coins
Page Coins

8 Cups

2 wands
7 Wands

4 Swords
7 Swords
Page Swords
Queen Swords
King Swords

My cats woke me up, so I'm waiting until my valerian kicks in.

How about the 6 of Swords, as he's sneaking out of town in the pre-morning fog, all alone except for a ghostly rower.

Kim

Dark Eyes  07 Mar 2004
I'm going to say the three of swords because
I am feeling very alone now. I just broke up with my fiance' tonight after being engaged for three months, together for 5 years and known each other for 12 years. I feel very alone and I feel like the three of swords right now. Any encouragement would be welcome please. ... could it be the three of swords?

Debs.

alsie  07 Mar 2004
Oh I'm sorry Debs, it isn't the 3 either :( That's so sad about you breaking up with your fiance. I'm so sorry :( I'm sure all your friends will be there to help you through this difficult time.

Alsie

alsie  07 Mar 2004
Not the 6/swords either. Everyone is practically tripping over the right card LOL but somehow picking themselves up and walking round it :P

I hope you manage to get back to sleep Kim, nobody should be up before 10 am on Sunday. It would be one of my laws if I ran the world LOL.

Alsie

Dark Eyes  07 Mar 2004
Thanks Alsie,
You have helped me to feel better a lot. It is sad and I am flattened, just the initial impact has floored me, not sure where to go from here. You are right though, I have many friends and they will be there for me, thanks for your kind thoughts. You are very sweet.

Could your card be the 2 of swords...? He who compromises and sits on the fence, but doesn't just run with the crowd ?? Takes his time to decide and doesn't follow the leader but rather takes his own lead...?

alsie  07 Mar 2004
No it isn't the 2 of swords Debs. But if this was hide and seek the last 3 guesses have been so boiling hot that I'm bouncing up and down like a little girl in frustration  Boing, boing...

Alsie

gloria  07 Mar 2004
Hi Alsie....how about Ace/Swords...very much upholder of Truth, the whole Truth and nothing but the Truth! :)

lionette  07 Mar 2004
Responding to your clue, Alsie ... 5 swords?

ncefafn  07 Mar 2004
Just wanted to say, Dark Eyes, you have my heartfelt sympathy. Anything else I could say would be trite. You are in my thoughts.

Kim

alsie  07 Mar 2004
Ta da! Lionette has it :) The 5 of swords. I can breathe again now...

Before someone says what does this card have to do with the clue LOL... I chose the 5 of swords because it can represent an honest decent person facing a dishonest and shifty opposition and losing. Sometimes the good guy loses or gets cheated. But you have to keep your faith and work out another way to win. If you gave up you would end up like the guy in this quote and see fools and cheats everywhere!

Thank you to everyone that made guesses...hope it had you totally confused :P

Anyway, on that note, I will hand this over to Lionette :)

Dark Eyes  07 Mar 2004
Thanks ncefafn,
I managed to get a little sleep last night, but feel terrible. You are kind to show me support, it has been a sad time, I hope I can get past it.
Thanks to this site and my friends at home around me here, it helps such a lot. I am lucky to have so many good people around me.

Well done Lionette, I can see where you were coming from alsie with the quote. It was a very good one, looking forward to more. it also helps keep ones mind off other stuff that is happening.

again, thank you everybody for kind words.

D.
