"Vegetarians have wicked, shifty eyes and laugh in a cold, calculating manner. They pinch little children, steal stamps, drink water, favor beards." - J.B. Morton, 'Daily Express'

What card am I? :)

gloria  22 Apr 2004
:laugh:Thank goodness I have said goodbye to my veggy days....mind you, I never had a beard!!

gloria  22 Apr 2004
I'll try 4/Pentacles....?

mercenary30  22 Apr 2004
I will say 10 of Pentacles.

ncefafn  22 Apr 2004
Nope. Keep guessing!

Kim

P.S. - Gloria, I agree. The children in my neighborhood have far fewer bruises now that I've become an omnivore again.

mercenary30  22 Apr 2004
Seven of Swords?

arcanalefait  22 Apr 2004
I too was going to say 7 of swords.

gloria  22 Apr 2004
I'll go for The Devil...although I can't see him overdosing on water!

ncefafn  22 Apr 2004
Nope again, but Gloria is moving in the right direction. ;)

Kim

mercenary30  22 Apr 2004
How about we skip the art and go for more balance with Temperance?

gloria  22 Apr 2004
How about King/Pents?

ncefafn  22 Apr 2004
No to both, but Gloria continues to get warmer. And I didn't realize I was frowning!

Kim

hedgecub  22 Apr 2004
How about the 5 of Swords?

ncefafn  22 Apr 2004
Sorry, Hedgecub, not the 5 of Swords.

hedgecub  22 Apr 2004
Queen of pentacles?

ncefafn  22 Apr 2004
Nope, not the Queen of Pents, but you're edging closer. :)

Kim

CreativeFire  22 Apr 2004
I think it might be the King of Swords ? (maybe) :)

CreativeFire

hedgecub  22 Apr 2004
Queen of Swords then?

ncefafn  22 Apr 2004
ooooh . . . sorry, CreativeFire. Think about the speaker instead of his subject. Who would say such a thing? ;)

Kim

ncefafn  22 Apr 2004
Oops, Hedgecub, we must've posted at the same time. Not the Queen of Swords either. :)

Kim

CreativeFire  22 Apr 2004
okay switching tack here - the speaker - then I would have to guess The Heirophant - something along the lines of confirming to the established view of vegetarians by the meat eaters ;)

CreativeFire

gloria  23 Apr 2004
The Emperor?

ncefafn  23 Apr 2004
Nope, not the Emperor nor the Heirophant. I think these one-line clues are harder because there's less to work from. Keep trying!

I think I agree with you there, Kim !

Okay this one is from real out there - Strength.

Sorry, I just have this picture of the lion being the "speaker" (being the non-vege that he his) and is that why the lady is trying to close his mouth? I will let someone else have a more serious try as I am a bit brain tired this time of night! :)

mercenary30  23 Apr 2004
Knight of Swords?

gloria  23 Apr 2004
Queen/Cups....I'm going with 'the water' theme.

Cryptic_Lyric  23 Apr 2004
The Empress? ..I'm going with the nature/earth thing ;)

But what do I know,I'm new to this :\

Welcome, Cryptic_Lyric! Glad you could join us at AT and here on the Fun & Games board!

Well, it's none of the above. However, Cryptic_Lyric is close to the spirit of the card I chose, and Gloria is close, too. ;)

Since we're on the third page, let me add a clue: It's neither a Major nor a Court.

Kim

gloria  23 Apr 2004
6/Cups.....maybe fond memories of a bygone era! :D

mercenary30  23 Apr 2004
Four of Pentacles....crochety old grump......and cattle rancher.

Cryptic_Lyric  23 Apr 2004
3 of cups?

C.L.

gloria  23 Apr 2004
Yes a warm welcome to you Cryptic. :)

Cryptic_Lyric  23 Apr 2004
Thanks Gloria :)

C.L.

ncefafn  23 Apr 2004
Sorry, Mercenary, but you're waaaaay off. But thanks for the insight into the 4 of Pents -- I never woulda pictured that guy as Ben Cartwright! :D

And Gloria and Cryptic_Lyric, you guys keep edging closer and closer . . . but haven't got it yet. :(

Four of Cups -- with that dude sitting against the tree refusing meat???

Can you tell I am getting desperate? hehe :D

Not as desperate as I am, Mercenary. ACK! I think I must've totally screwed this up, or my reasoning is totally insane. :(

Another hint: think FAT! Fat fat fatty!

Cryptic_Lyric  23 Apr 2004
OK..2 of Pentacles?

That 'beard' reference is realllly throwing me off :(

HAHAhahah that is funny.

ros  23 Apr 2004
Yes it is funny because I can never figure out this game.
If I'm right someone take my turn because I don't even know where you get the quotes from! Hahahaha!!!!!
I posted just for fun.

ncefafn  23 Apr 2004
YES! Yes, Ros, you win! Oh, thank goodness!

I chose the 9 of Cups as the person most likely to give voice to the sentiment in this quote. Being a confirmed sensualist, this man is distrustful of anyone who lives a life even remotely approaching asceticism, ascribing to such persons nasty temperaments and perhaps even evil characters.

Over to you, Ros!

ros  24 Apr 2004
Back to you ncefafn!

I was just cruising by & read this thread. I haven't been in the Tarot Games & Fun thread for a while.
Really I have no quotes.

ncefafn  24 Apr 2004
Oh, no. I'm not doing this again. If you don't want it, I'll hand it over to Mercenary. He hasn't led one in a while. Mercenary, the baton, if you will.

Kim

mercenary30  24 Apr 2004
Sure, I will do it.....but it may be a day or so before I start....then again it may be later today! Who knows.

gloria  24 Apr 2004
Looking forward to your clue mercenary.....:)

Cryptic_Lyric  24 Apr 2004
I'd like to give it a go after Mercenary's turn.

That is, if it's ok with you guy's?

C.L.

ncefafn  24 Apr 2004
Hi, Cryptic. Generally, what we do is the winner starts the next one. However, in this case, Ros abdicated her throne as Queen of the Next One-Line Quote, and tried to hand it back to me. However, my queenly duties had come to an end and I didn't want to to resume them, so I handed it off to Merc. Hmm. Queen Merc . . .

Anyway, this was an unusual situation. :)

Keep playing, Cryptic, we need more blood around here!

Kim

Cryptic_Lyric  24 Apr 2004
>>Keep playing, Cryptic, we need more blood around here!<<

I will definitely keep playing :)

This game can be very helpful for honing one's skills, and since I'm a beginner,I need all the 'skill honing' that I can get ;)
