I have a literature passage from "WAR AND PEACE" Leo Tolstoy
It is not an easy one, I don't think so anyway, but Gloria is usually pretty quick off the mark with these and very clued in, you will probably get it right away Gloria I bet !!
Anyway, here goes...

Good luck Y'all, Hope it's not too difficult.
Happy guessing.... D. :*

Hi Mercenary 30,
That is not the card I have in mind, but definitely the right feeling I have for the passage. You have already struck the current I am on, perhaps it isn't that hard after all.
Try again

Eight of Swords....there is trouble all around and he is (purposfully) avoiding the issues and is just standing there blinfolded, hoping it will all go away???

Not the card, but if I were to say "hot or cold" you would be burning in the furnace right now...

Not the Nine of swords is it?
I have never read the book so if her betrothed is dead.......

No, not 9 swords.
again, good try Merc, I think you were closer in the last guess.
It is definitely more to do with how he (the father) deals with the situation, his reluctance to want to know the truth for fear of ruining his comfort.
I gotta hit the sack now, but will be checking in again, in the morning. Gnite all.

Natasha's betrothed isn't dead, but she refused his proposal for marriage (her father didn't know). She had begun a close friendship with another man whilst her father was away and the letter she wrote him was intercepted, and consequently the man never got it and when he came to visit her, he got wise and ran away before being caught by Natashas friend. Natasha, being distraught/broken hearted at not being able to see him , faked illness and shut herself away in her room. then her father arrives back from being away , that is where the passage begins... But, as I said, it's not to do with whether her betrothed was dead.
There, now i have confused you even more.
goodnight Merc.

Good morning everyone... and Hiya Gloria.
[/b][/font] :) I was thinking 2 of swords;
The father had a choice to make, either to take onboard the way his daughter was responding and admit that he suspected a problem and attend to it as a father should, or to ignore the signs of distress and hope it blows over.
He decided to keep his blinkers on, refused to move his blindfold for fear of upsetting his happy balance in life. He believed if he carried on as normal that he wouldn't have to deal with it.
Well done Gloria, I thought you may come in and whip the rug out from under Merc !
Sorry merc, you were so very close and perhaps you did the groundwork for our English pal.
Well done Gloria, now it's back over to you. My reign was lived out short and sweet ... lol ! :)
