"I Wanna Be Tarot!"...what card are *you*?

Thread originally posted on the Aeclectic Tarot Forum on 29 Jul 2004, and now archived in the Forum Library.

blackroseivy  29 Jul 2004
Which one do you identify with most, Minor or Major - or perhaps one of each? I'm The Empress - I even have a self-portrait for that card for my own deck! Next to that, I'd say QofC... but that's the obvious!

Just a little idea to get a ball rollin'! :D

littlehermit  29 Jul 2004
In my Spiral deck, I am the Princess of Swords. Or at least that's definitely the girl who grew up to be me. She's even got the same wild hair (that's what mine looks like when I bend over and brush it out), chubby cheeks, and "I'm right, of course!" expression.

In general, I'm somewhere between Hermit (qed!) and Queen of Swords.

Alta  29 Jul 2004
Queen of wands, in the Gill. Or even the princess some days!

Rhiannon  29 Jul 2004
I usually associate with the Queen of Swords, but in Major Tom's deck he's been nice and thought I was young enough to be the Princess instead. ;)

R :)

Brandaluna  29 Jul 2004
I usually identify with the Queen of Swords. I love to learn, and I retain information easily. I also like to put that talent to use to help others, and I tend to be able to fit into groups well once I warm up to the people because I know a little bit about a lot of different topics. The flip side of that is that I can also unfortunately be a bit of a gossip and snoop because I want to know everything.

Alissa  30 Jul 2004
High Priestess wanna-be, right here... :)

I'll take the Star after that.

And if we're talkin I-wanna-be-inside-that-Tarot-card... I would have to pick at least half of the Vargo Gothic deck, and 3/4 of the Decameron's cards, majors and minors... })

Luminessence  30 Jul 2004
I identify with the Page of Cups. Very compassionate and loving and creative... not always sure how to control my emotions or what's the right thing to say, but always meaning well... Yes, definitely me. Also, in a lot of decks the Page of Cups is shown with a dolphin, and I feel a definite connection with dolphins.

In the Major Arcana, I identify with the High Priestess, and, to a lesser extent, the Hermit.

tao51  30 Jul 2004
In the Goldent Tarot of the Renaissance I like the King of Swords.
--Tao

Flavio  30 Jul 2004
In Major Arcana: must be the Emperor, besides is my Soul Card, I was born a Leo... what else could I be? :D

In Courts: The Page of Cups, is more a wish than actually feeling like that, the most difficult part of me to share and express are emotions, sometimes I believe the people can not believe in my good intentions. I also like the fish in this card as aquarium keeping is another of my hobbies.

In Minor Arcana: a mix of 7 of Pentacles with 10 of Cups, work hard to get the "happy ever after" results.

Aun  30 Jul 2004
I have a strong identification with the Magician, actually i have a weird feeling that his face is very similar to mine. (RWS)

blackroseivy  30 Jul 2004
Which deck, Aun? The Thoth? If so, I'll have to get the deck just to see what you look like! }) Seriously, I think I look a little like "The Lady" card in Sacred Circle (Empress again), although my friend says that she looks like Gwyneth Paltrow!

Phantom Goddess  01 Aug 2004
In my Vargo Gothic Tarot, I am the Queen of Swords while my love is the King of Swords. We make a good team. :)

morandia  01 Aug 2004
for years I would have said Queen of Cups, but now I would have to say the Robin Wood Death card. Much change, but that card makes it seem easier/more positive. I hope that's what I"m doing - changing gracefully and helping others to do the same.

Cerulean  02 Aug 2004
Have sometimes walked on air in mood at least.

Regards,

Cerulean

Sillanza  02 Aug 2004
Who would I like to be? Justice combined with the High Priestess. Who am I? More like the Queen of Pentacles combined with the Moon! Hey, at least I can admit it! ;)

blackroseivy  02 Aug 2004
Earthy yet dreamy, eh? :D

arcanalefait  02 Aug 2004
I seem to be a mix between the Queen of Wands and Queen of Cups (with a slight touch of the Q of Swords thrown in when I'm feeling defensive... ;) ) but I would like to be identified most with the Moon. Mysterious, ever-changing, and illusory....unfortunately I think I'm pretty straight-up!

:P
Arcana

Red Emma  02 Aug 2004
Oh to be the magician!

S/he dreams and fantasizes of the possibilites, and creates reality from them. S/he knits the worlds together to create new worlds much more desireable for the health and the liking of our earth's inhabitants. And healthier for the planet itself.

S/he creates new worlds, new ways of being, new ways of inhabiting our universe.

I want to be the magician.

Chronata  02 Aug 2004
The Queen of Cups was my card when I first started reading tarot, and I think I still identify with her very much.

I used to also identify strongly with the Star...
These days, however, it is the Magician.

Goldenhair  03 Aug 2004
In the RWS, the Nine of Pentacles. The card says, "I have arrived, I have done it!" The house, the estate and a certain amount of class are evident.

blackroseivy  03 Aug 2004
Hey, send a little bit *my* way!!

Lady Anna  03 Aug 2004
In Major Arcana: I identify the most with The High Priestess...want to be The Temperance and The Star...

In Courts: The Page of Cups...but also The Queen of Cups in combination with the Queen of Pentacles...

In Minor Arcana: I work hard to someday have the "happy ever after" result that brings the 10 of Cups...

blackroseivy  03 Aug 2004
...Twenty-two posts for 22 Majors! (Well, not exactly, but it would be cool if they *were* all majors!)

The 78th Fool  08 Aug 2004
There's a self portrait of me in my own deck - I'm the Fool.

http://www.butlerart.co.uk/Tarot/View-Deck.htm

otherwise, I'm whatever card resonates with me at the time.

Chris. xx

tao51  08 Aug 2004
I feel like a different card. Sometimes like today if feel like Death! No, I am not morbid. I feel that it is a card of renaissance. It means that something like the dark ages is gone and an enlightenment is at hand. --Tao

blackroseivy  09 Aug 2004
What a neat meaning for the Death card! - I'll have to remember it! Over where the scholars talk, there is a discussion on the Black Death as an origination point for the images in the Majors... Made me think of that.

acolyte  10 Aug 2004
Well when I wake up feeling like all is good, happy and ready to face the world I would say that I am the FOOL but on most other days I feel like the King of Wands, which is the forst card i picked when i went for my first reading as a tarot illiterate.)

Red Emma  10 Aug 2004
Chris,

I like the art work on your deck almost better than any deck I've ever seen.

Best wishes!

Necromancer  10 Aug 2004
my life seems to be the tower becouse every time i think the change is over boom!!!! another change. :TDEV

Necromancer  10 Aug 2004
he he sorry bout that the smile thing was :TTOW

Necromancer  10 Aug 2004
o and the the deck i am no doubt the gothic tarot })

ladymermaid  18 Aug 2004
i am the lovers card in all the tarot decks

Apollonia  18 Aug 2004
For years, I've been the person walking away in almost any Eight of Cups I've ever seen. I think it proably speaks valumes about my longing to get out of the city to a place where nature sounds and my thoughts are the only sounds I hear.

LittleWing  19 Aug 2004
For me I associate as the female in the lovers (my soul card) - I am totally in love with love ........ and also .....

Minor - I also feel affinity with the 4 of swords - I remind myself daily to calm the mind.

Major - I also see myself as the magician ......... and when i have babies i will be the empress.

Court - Queens of Pentacles (I am a health freak / woman of small business project / creative and practical)

Kit  03 Sep 2004
Always wanted to be High Priestess...out of the courts I'm kind of a page of cups.

anubis  03 Sep 2004
MY life is in shambles, the Tower represents me

blackroseivy  03 Sep 2004
Oh no, what a shame, you have my sympathies! :( I am working my way towards a Star period myself - I *think* I can see it up there! - after having had a homeless stint last year, an extreme & in the main untreated mania, & a catastrophic move to a place that I, to put it kindly, hate. I know where you're at, bro!

But eventually, things *have* to get better. Being a part of this community has been of great comfort to me. So take heart! :)

Cariad  03 Sep 2004
I identify most with the Q of Swords she is my Soul Card. Her positive qualities have supported me through difficult times enabling me to maintain focus and balance and to reaffirm my independance. The defensive nature of the Q of S. is an acquired taste only I'm afraid.!

I dont make it to H.P. in the Major Arcania only to Empress but it has to be said that the Q of S is aloof enough for anyone!!!!!

I am strongly drawn to the Four of Wands in the Tarot of Prague and the fourth female striding out on her own in her colourful clothes. This is particularly relevant to me given developments in my home and work environment.

OakDragon  03 Sep 2004
I am a Hermit slowly morphing into a Knight of Cups. I have my days. I think I'm still mostly Hermitty, though.

I also find myself identifying occasionally now with the Knight of Pentacles and the King of Swords, simply because of the way they're represented in the Gilded Tarot. To me the court cards are so much more expressive in that deck than most others I'm familiar with.

blackroseivy  04 Sep 2004
Oh, I agree about the Gilded! :D I find myself in the "everyday" sense, to be the Queen of Cups; it's the whole overwrought, emotional "Guenivere" thing - the Grail fascinates me, & it holds my spiritual path.

Emily  04 Sep 2004
I too am working my way through a Hermit period not certain in which direction I am heading though lol :)

blackroseivy  04 Sep 2004
Actually, I'm in quite a Hermit phase myself - but I think of it as training to become the High Priestess! ;)

kryztyna  04 Sep 2004
I feel like a cat on a hot tin roof at the moment. Card I would choose for myself at this time is 8 of wands from the Tarot of the Cat People!
