Okay, got one. :)
(Excerpt from 'Galactic Pot Healer' by Philip K. Dick)
"Never mind ," Mali said. "A little game Ralf and I had. A long time ago. Thingisms, we called them. Let's see if I can remember some of them. He thought all of them up. 'The bookbusiness is hidebound.' That's one. 'Plants are taking over the world sporadically.' Let's see. 'The operator let me off the hook.' I always liked that; it made me think of a giant hook, in fact a whole giant phone. 'In 1945 the discovery of atomic energy electrified the world.' Do you see?" She glanced at him. "You don't," she said. "Never mind."
"They're all true statements," Joe said. "As far as I can make out. What's the gamepart?"
"'The senate inquiry into modern use of side arms was muzzled.' How do you like thatone? I saw that in a newspaper. I think Ralf found the others in newspapers or heard them over TV; I think they all were real."

I'll be off the forum for a few days on business that must be conducted far from my regular computer access...
(Getting a special cabinet made amongst other things, though this is only for the plans to be delivered and the purpous explained to the carpenter.)
Do put in your guesses but don't expect any "grading" for a couple of days since I won't be able to check in until the bus takes me back home again.

Let's see... It is a game, something playful. But it is a game with words, something intellectual. But the words are about things. Could be about anything :)
I'll go for the enthusiasm and guess the

Well, I'll try

Hanged man indeed.
~ True statements seen with a bit of a twist.
Getting the point of the thingisms-game surely helps see the intended card. :)
Okay Elf, you're up.
Your turn to give us a clue.

So, I didn't really figure it out based on the quote, because the quote had me STUMPED!
