Okey dokey. Here's my song. Since I have a (nearly) one (sound)track mind, it is, of course, a Rush song. And also, since my last clue took people forever and a half to solve, I promised it would be an easy one this time. I hope it will be. Good luck!
"Marathon" (lyrics by Neil Peart)
It's not how fast you can go
The force goes into the flow
If you pick up the beat
You can forget about the heat
More than just survival
More than just a flash
More than just a dotted line
More than just a dash
It's a test of ultimate will
The heartbreak climb uphill
Got to pick up the pace
If you want to stay in the race
More than just blind ambition
More than just simple greed
More than just a finish line
Must feed this burning need
In the long run...
[chorus:]
From first to last
The peak is never passed
Something always fires the light that gets in your eyes
One moment's high, and glory rolls on by
Like a streak of lightning
That flashes and fades in the summer sky
Your meters may overload
You can rest at the side of the road
You can miss a stride
But nobody gets a free ride
More than high performance
More than just a spark
More than just the bottom line
Or a lucky shot in the dark
In the long run...
From first to last
The peak is never passed
Something always fires the light that gets in your eyes
One moment's high, and glory rolls on by
Like a streak of lightning
That flashes and fades in the summer sky
You can do a lot in a lifetime
If you don't burn out too fast
You can make the most of the distance
First you need endurance
First you've got to last...
From first to last
The peak is never passed
Something always fires the light that gets in your eyes
One moment's high, and glory rolls on by
Like a streak of lightning
That flashes and fades in the summer sky

Hmm, I didn't realize this one would be so difficult. You all are very close, but I had a different card in mind. I see the song as being about the "rat race": the constant struggle for success, competition in one's career and in life. The never-ending struggle to succeed.

"Of course" being the operative phrase (of course). Yes, telcontar, you got it! Yay!
As one description of this card I've seen says, it represents: "Successful advancement._ A time of great opportunity requiring much skill, courage and determination in order to succeed._ Strength of nerve, great fortitude and courage in the face of hardship._ An indication that success may be achieved through sustained effort._ Indicates strong and powerful competition."
To me this song is about the relentless struggle to succeed while in competition with others. From looking at the image on the RWS version of the card, I see it as someone defending his position from others who want to usurp it, competing to maintain it.
Your turn, telcontar! :)
