renaming reversals

Thread originally posted on the Aeclectic Tarot Forum on 15 Dec 2004, and now archived in the Forum Library.

Dark Inquisitor  15 Dec 2004
Background ; a recent quote from Diana:

"Fulgour: Does this mean that when you read the Tarot, you don't read "reversals". (God, I hate that word. Why are there so many dumb words when it comes to the Tarot? Why didn't people try and use ELEGANT words when they had to give more technical terms to the Tarot. Now we're stuck with "reversals" and "feedback"... Sigh...)"

From this thread:

Which made me think it might be a little bit of fun to think of new terms for reversed & reversals:

Flippage
Surprisals
Constipations
Misbegotten
Shadowed
Delinquent
Contrary
Bedamned
Deflated
Crunk

Intuitive Readers: Respecting one's inner voice is both a joy and
a responsibility. Allowing reversals may be a way of connecting
on a deeper level, and when this awareness has been sensed it
is as natural to follow it as ever may be.

I personally like "Delinquent" and "Bedamned"...

"Delinquent" is just perfect when the cards are playing tricks on you. ;)

"Tessellation" is the standard reference provided by
The House of Reversals Freeport, Illinois USA

contradiction
opposition
antithesis,
retroversion
transposed

i love naming the reversed cards reversals , then i get to call the normal cards uprightals :)

i would call in lieu of reversals being no longer fashionalbe and since you already used shadowed d.i.
i would use either blockages or repressals
