Sorry it took so long. I always have such trouble with this!
This is a poem by Maya Angelou:
On Diverse Deviations
When love is a shimmering curtain
Before a door of chance
That leads to a world in question
Wherein the macabrous dance
Of bones that rattle in silence
Of blinded eyes and rolls
Of thick lips thin, denying
A thousand powdered moles,
Where touch to touch is feel
And life a weary whore
I would be carried off, not gently
To a shore,
Where love is the scream of anguish
And no curtain drapes the door.
Have fun!

Not yet!
I considered the Moon for this card, actually. But I decided to go with something else. I'm really considering the speaker.

No...hmmm...
I'm really thinking about what the speaker is willing to do.

good poem. I'm not sure if I'm understanding her the way she means but I'm thinking The Hanged Man?

Well, I picked out 4 cards that I thought it could be...then realised that two had already been offered and rejected so....
The Devil?
(and if that's wrong, I'll try the next one!)

It sounds like the speaker doesn't give in easily...
so 7 of Wands.

6 of Swords?

OK...maybe if I say what the poem means to me it will help. Guessed so far:
3 of swords
9 of swords
highpriestess
moon
wheel
justice
death
10 of swords
hanged man
lovers devil
7 of wands
6 of swords
I think the poet is saying that she would rather face the risk of pain by diving into "real" love, rather than staying reserved and dealing with pretenses.
Hope that helps! Sorry this was so hard!

The Fool??

Yes!!!!! The Fool! Peridot gets it!
To me, it seemed like the speaker was willing to risk herself in order to fully experience love--very Fool sounding!
On to you, Peridot!

wow! ok cool. Your interpretation really helped. I must admit though I didn't really expect to get it correct so I don't have a poem just now. I can get one it will just take me a bit. If no one minds. Do I post a new thread or just continue on with this one? I'm new to this thanks for your patience.

Ok, I think I can answer my own question here - I decided to look up the rules...what a novel idea:) So I think I'm supposed to start a new thread with same title different date. I'll do that a bit later. Thanks. this is fun.
