Really sorry guys about the delay, what a crazy week!
This is a snippet from Jane Austen's 'Emma':
" Her views of improving her little friend's mind, by a great deal of reading and conversation, had never yet led to more than a first few chapters, and the intention of going on to-morrow. It was much easier to chat than to study; much pleasanter to let her imagination range and work at Harriet's fortune, than to be labouring to enlarge her comprehension, or excercise it on sober facts; "
That's it, have fun!

Not yet guys, although I seriously considered the 6 of Cups; but then decided that in the Six of Cups it's a more balanced or genuine exchange than I feel it is in this passage............................ ;)

6 of Pentacles?
You got it Lady Mary!
There's something a little patronising in the way the guy in the 6 of Pentacles casually drops those coins, which reminded me of Emma's patronising attitude that she can 'improve her little friend's mind' because her own is so superior!
And though it's not explicit in the extract I posted, the 'little friend' laps it up with as much blind gratitude as the 'beggars' on the card.
Congratulations Lady M, it's over to you!

Well, gosh, now that you explain it, it seems so obvious. :) I've read that novel twice now, and I don't know how I missed that. Good job, Lady Mary!
