Sitting here watching the terrorist atrocity unfold on my TV - it really struck me that I was witnessing the physical manifestation of the archtypal Tower! It really hit me like a physical blow!
Always keen to put experience to use - I've created a new Tower card for Major Tom's tarot. You can see it on my profile }>
I have to say - I'm not entirely happy with the quality of the photo of the World Trade Centre that I used. If anyone knows where I might get a better (higher resolution) photo?
Your thoughts on the physical manifestion, the card, or the photo would be appreciated }>

At one point on t.v. they showed a close up where people were actually flinging themselves out of the high story windows of the wtc's , I suppose to escape the smoke inhalation ,and I thought, sheeez! Whoever created the tower card centuries ago must've skipped ahead to the future and Seen it!
I like your tower card major tom!

Major Tom: It seems "to fit" the look of the other cards you've created thus far.
It is riveting! No offense, but it has an eerie feeling to it--one that comes by naturally, one would suppose because of what I associate the card with now.
I was at work when I heard of the destruction of the WTC or the Twin Towers & thought of The Tower card.

Major Tom,
There are a few problems with using the The World Trade Center and the Tower:
The only feeling I get is sorrow and greif from your Towen. The Tower has always cried release to me not sorrow.
People may see this as a way to glorify the attack.
This card will evoke painful memories for many people.
I hope my response is the only neg. one because I think it is wonderful that you are creating a custom deck.

Major Tom,
I think it is wonderful that you are making a deck, BUT...
The Tower card you created using the World Trade Center feels verrrrry wrong to me.
I look at this card and see pain and suffering.
Maybe it's to soon to use painful images to evoke personal insight. The true meaning of the attack is just to fresh.

Thank you for this CJ - I rather expect others will feel the same as you.
IMHO - The Tower card should evoke strong emotions.
I can assure you there is no intention on my part to glorify the attack. My intent is to create as you say a custom deck utilising photos of people and places in my world. The destruction of the WTC is the most obvious physical manifestation of the archtypal Tower that I have ever seen.

Major Tom: How many cards have you done now? And is that you in the Magician card? Who have you used for the court cards, and how have you done the Star and Death?
Do you still need anyone to appear in your Tarot cards?

I've completed 17 cards so far - this is my 2nd version of the Tower. The first showed the local church tower :D
Yes, that's me in the Magician card :D
I'm using people I know (friends & family) for all the cards.
I haven't yet done either the Star or Death. Any women with long blond hair wish to volunteer for the Star? :D
Yes, I still need people to appear in the cards.
Kiama - you've got mail :D

Major Tom,
I didn't realize you were so cute!! Too bad you're in England and I'm here in the US. LOL You do make a great magician!
I could see myself as Strength. I can definitely relate and in numerology it's my life's goal card.

The Tarot School had a pic on their website that captured a falling man from the WTC buildings- and the photo caught him upside down, and in the actual position of the hanged man. A very disturbing image of a man (now dead - R.I.P.) frozen in suspension forever with the Tower behind him.
I'm available for print work - but you're in England and I'm in SE Connecticut, USA!

Dear cj - I had a cousin on the seventh floor of the first tower when the plane hit- he is fine and got out and away in time. Although the concept seems wrong to you, the image is so archetypical that you have to look past what actually happened. Major Tom is in no way trying to denigrate what happened or make light of those who died, nor support the people who did this, even if the Tower card is about destruction of something built for the wrong reasons and has been destroyed. I, in fact, will use the image of the WTC attack as a description when I next teach a Tarot class.

There's six cards posted right here on Aeclectic.net }> As for the others - I don't have them up anywhere.
*Sigh* Suppose I should think about a website.

Yes, I still need people to appear in the cards.
Maybe you could use one of my photos? See http://www.marysia.com/
The more recent photos are red-headed but the earlier ones are blonde and there is a good range.

Not that I'm volunteering anyone, but unless you're trying to copy RW, why long blonde hair? I've seen beautiful tarot cards where the Star lady has had long black hair, or been dark skinned--decks with Asian, African and American Indian women for the Star card.
Er, also, do you plan to go classic Star and have the woman, well, in the buff? If so, you might want to include that in your search criteria (Long blond hair and willingness to pose nude....)

:D Actually the model I'm using for the majors is the BOTA (but I'm not sticking that close) }>
:D Actually these days I've been thinking she should have red hair! :D In the buff would be best but I'm open to other solutions. }>
Thirteen - have you given any thought to which card you'd like to be? }>

The Tower.
Not even one week before the horrible events of Sept 11, I drew the Tower in my reading, in the 'environment' position. "Well",thought I, "Everything is going along splendidly in life, what's this all about?" Nothing in my personal sphere was going wrong, as is usually the case when this card erupts. And then- WTC. And subsequent war. That's the Tower, allright. Here are my stats to volunteer for the Death card. Long black hair, blue eyes. Age,31 (as of Nov 1, 2001) Pale skin, former model. Possibly intriguing looking enough to qualify as Death. Not cadaverous, but perhaps mysterious. If you want to see, let me know. I'll provide a photo! Oh, and to your girlfriend...I'm very happily attached, Don't worry on my account!
