Heya All,
This is my first post; I'm glad to have found a group of experienced readers to go to for advice.
My question: has anybody found that, from time to time, it becomes nearly impossible to get an understandable reading? I went through a period like this recently, and it lasted for the best part of a week. I was honestly very diligent, I tried to give every spread my attention and tried to remain open to the messages I was getting, but simply couldn't make head or tails out of them. Can anyone give me some idea what might be causing this, and perhaps what strategies I can use to overcome it? I don't expect thunderbolts every time, of course, but these spreads had me utterly mystified. FYI, I tend to use a good ol' Rider-Waite for most of my readings, but I've also been playing around with a Renaissance deck lately.

Ok,
This is what I can tell you, I believe that if you are not able to decifer the message from a reading (esspecially if it's for you) that means that you simply are not ready for it. I know that may not be the answer that you're looking for but try this, record your reading in your Tarot journal or if you don't have one then just some where you won't loose it, then come back to it a week later, re-create the spread and see what happens. You may be very surprised. Also a confusing reading may also come from your question...you may be asking it one way outwardly but totally differently on the inside...that can often cause some problems. Be carefull with the the question your asking, because your cards may be answering a question that your heart is asking.
I hope this helps, good luck
Kisa

Hi Sometimes when you get a confusing spread it's probably best not to try too hard.Worrying about it will only make the situation worse.Leave the question/problem for a day then try again ,after asking yourself Am I asking the correct question,is this what I REALLY need to know, can I solve/tackle the problem without help. Try again , if you still have problems then put the spread to the Forum. I'm sure you will get lots of help on it

Just want to say thanks to those who've responded; I've only been logging in a couple of days so far, but already I've learned so much from reading everyone's questions and replies.
Regards,
A.

I just wanted to add that sometimes the cards are answering a question which is of greater concern. Occassionaly a reading is trying to address more than one question. Sometimes I simply reshuffle and ask the querent to try to think harder on the single question.--Tao

That condition is the onset of a Psychic Hernia, you were forcing what cannot be forced.
but you know, I did a post on that once...somewhere around here...
