Hi!
I have used cards for quite a few years now but I have a problem when people ask about occupations/careers/work.
Can anyone please tell me if they've found any books or articles etc that tell which occupation links with each card???????

Hi!
Sorry - I can't help you with your question, but I thought I'd add a little something to it:
Does anyone have a good specific spread for career questions? I can imagine that might be an easier way of getting the information than relying on specific card meanings, or at least one that I'd be more comfortable with...!
Pixi_cat: I noticed you were new here, this was your first post, right? Welcome to the forum! I hope you'll be having a good time here, I know I am, and I became a member just two weeks ago! I'll see you around! (Oh, and if you like to, there is a New Member's board, where you can write a little presentation of yourself!)
In light,
Jenny :)

Hi Pixi cat,
Here are some suggestions about cards/occupations. It goes by the suits.
Swords indicate occupations dealing with mostly mental work - communications, computers, secretarial, teaching, etc.
Wands are outdoorsy and aggressive - soldiers, athletes, coaches, even lawyers.
Cups are artistic & emotional - artists and counselors. Also healers, in the "alternative" healing arts.
Pentacles have to do with land, real estate, finance, money, banking, and the medical profession. Also manual building trades - construction, masonry, landscaping, farming, etc. Also natural sciences, although oceanographer or someone who studies aquatic stuff would be with cups.
Pages can indicate either beginning an apprenticeship or study involving the suit they are in, or they can also indicate working with children. Look to see what position they are in. Knights or Kings might indicate the more "masculine" careers in their suits, while Queens might indicate the more "feminine" fields.
That is how I see them when I do career/job readings.
Best of luck,
DeLani

Just thought I would break down the details. While I'm not sure that certain cards represent certain careers, some seem to point a certain direction, but nothing that could be lumped together.
However, the aspects of ones career life can be identified with the suits.
Pentacles would be the financial angle of the reading.
Swords would be the detached intellectual side .
Wands would be your level of personal soverignty in any given situation.
Cups would be your integrated emotional and psychic side.
Majors would represent omnipresent energies affecting everyone. 0 through 10 would be events just beginning, while cards 11 through 21 would be events that have already begun and are taking shape.
Court cards identify the ranks of certain people in the official chain of command as well as the artificial one that was created behind the scenes. The meanings of the cards could easily become enhanced into a higher translation as the reading goes on.

Jenny,
Mark McElroy's book Putting the Tarot to Work is a nice, no-nonsense look at using tarot in the workplace. He includes an appendix of work related interpretations of the cards.
It was just published this year, so it wasn't available when you posted your question. It's worth taking a look!
