Hi! I just started to do tarot cards and I am lost!! LOL I was reading through some of the forums and then I really got lost! For instance, what is a negative card? Or negative position? What is a position? How do you do a 7 card spread? What do the cards "represent" in a 7 card spread? I understand the Past/Present/Future spread (I actually got the message/answer to my question!!!). Does anyone out there seem to have a certain card that seems to come up more often than any other? What other spreads are there that are easy to do and simple for beginners to do? Any assistance to these dire questions would be GREATLY appreciated :) .
Thanks,
Robin (rrcds)

Hi!
Here's another link for you, one that I've used and learnt loads from! http://www.learntarot.com It's the Joan Bunning Learn the Tarot-site. It's also for free, only it's selfstudies, you read the text and do the exersices. It will definitely get you started!
As for some of your questions: Most of them are a matter of opinion, and there sure are lots of them around here. But that's good, seeing a lot of different opinions regarding the Tarot will make it less likely that you'll get stuck in a too narrow view of the Tarot, but will leave room for you to eventually develop your own point of view!
Personally, I don't think there are purely negative (or positive) cards. All cards have good AND bad interpretations, just like everything in life has it's ups and downs. Negative positions? No, not really that either. There could be a position that points to an obstacle or something blocking you, but in finding guidance to see that obstacle, you will more easily see how to deal with it, right? That means it's not all bad after all, doesn't it?
When you deal your cards for a reading, according to a certain pattern, you designate the "positions" certain meanings, such as "past" or "future" or "hopes and fears" or "obstacle" or "advice" etc. That's a spread and that's what positions are!
Hope this will help a bit!
Welcome to the forum! I'm glad to have you here, and congratulations on beginning your Journey - it is a great one, I can tell you that! I look forward to seeing you around!
Light and love,
Jenny :)

Oooops! I can't believe I just forgot to mention the Tarot Basics!! I'm usually the one to rant LOADS about how fabulous those pages are for learning - I used them myself, and learned tons! Just making that extra clear now that Diana pointed it out...!
An other thing: Tarot is an interest that very easily expands, and expands (we do have a tarot-holics-club here if you should ever feel the need for one...) so use the free resources as much as you can, that'll leave you some extra cash to spend on new exciting decks... }) :D })
