Four Pages in a Celtic Cross

I was recently asked what the significance of all four Pages appearing in a Celtic Cross would be over and above their positional meaning.

I can only think that there will be some link to young people or a place where young people gather. Given that Pages are also messengers and news bringers, I would go for Schools, Colleges or universities, though I suppose that any place where young people associate would qualify. This could also mean that the questioner is likely to be involved in Education in someway, possibly renetering education or progressing to a higher level.

Does anyone have any other suggestions as to what the four Pages might mean?

In hope

Wow - great question! I don't the answer but I look forward to hearing the replies. And how about, all 4 of the Queens? Knights? Kings?

It might mean changes but they also reffer to the receipt of some form of communication, pages appear very often when you ask a question about a child.

a friend got four pages in a cc reading once...
the question was about the counseling he was receiving for some parenting issues. that made it pretty easy to interpret: as he has only three children, i took the four pages to mean that his inner work was for the benefit of _all_ the children in the world, not just his own. he had heard this sentiment expressed before (from a source he was not inclined to believe), and i think getting it from the cards gave him a chance to think about it again.

Pages are people in the celtic cross spread with the exception of them being in the 7 position and 9th position. In those two positions they are read as aspects . I would say the same for Kings and Queens. I never read knights as actual people.

I agree with the reading that talks of "changes". Each page could represent a different area - I once read about a reading, where all 4 pages appeared and the person left his wife, got together with a new one, moved into a different appartment and quit his old job. All on the same day. Personally I never had all of the 4 pages in one of my readings.

Thanks for the suggestions. I managed to get hold of a copy of Mary Greer's Tarot Reversals and she too picks out Children, Beginnings (change) and development as possible meanings, so I think we seem to have hit the main possibilities.

I appreciated the help, especially in relation to the position of the cards

I was wondering what you read knights as or what they represent for you?

meatbox666  31 Jul 2002
I read knights as situations that are comming or going. I use the Celtic Cross Method all the time. If a knight falls in the recent past, I tell what just regarding her situation and how it left the person feeling; the seventh position. Same with The distant past. I hope that makes a little sense, my energy is draining and I shall go into more details another time. Please comment. I am sooo tired now. Forgive me.

According to Tracy Porter's book, 4 Pages refer to a gathering of young people or students, possibly at school.

Thanks divinerguy. I have got that one and drew on it for the orginal post but wan't sure how good a source it was - though I find her book useful and its nice to know that someone else uses it as a reference too.

Someone else said it could indicate a possible major illness looming - Apart from the News and Change aspects I'm not sure I see this one. If anyone has come across it before I'd be interested to know more.

Found the reference to major illness in A. E. Waite's Key to the Tarot - he uses the phrase 'dangerous illness' for four Pages in a spread.
