Hi there,
I am not sure if I chose the right word for the subject I have in mind but I am intrigued about how far into the future one can read using the Tarot. A reader once told me that the cards do not predict events beyond 6 months ahead. However, there are such spread as the 12-months spread so I am wondering what everyone else thinks or if you can remember predictions which came true a long time later.
Cheers,
Soraya

I'm not much of one for limitations, I'll tell ya straight up....;)
I know of spreads, like Radhue's Wheel or the Victorian Fan, that use all 78 cards and cover whole lives. There are others that cover lives past. There are more that cover only the immediate future, and some that really aren't approriate for more than a day, or even an hour. Depends on how much depth you want and the reason behind your asking.
However.....quantum physics tells us that the very act of observing something changes it. Therefore, I can't accept the idea that once read, events are "written in stone." Just knowing what one now knows out of what the spread told one changes one's behavior, like it or not. It's like trying not to think of pink elephants. Once mentioned, it's tubes!
;) Take good care,

i think what that person told you was their personal opinion, or perhaps their own experience. maybe they have no luck in reading further than 6 months. for me, i have had readings, either psychic or tarot, that are just now coming to fullness and the reading was 4 years ago.
i think it might be different for each person, or at each time you need information. i/e if you are with a guy who beats you, and you get a reading that says he is not the one for you, there is someone else great for you in the future. you think the future is now and break up with beater. but then your reading doesn't come true for a long time. well, you needed enough information to get you into "free" status but needed time to prepare yourself and change your energies so you could deal with someone who treats you well.
so i think it will depend on the person getting the reader, and the information that you need at the time.

Here is an idea for you folks, start doing readings for others. But do not tell them of the results. Write it down, and seal it in an envelope to be opened at a future date.
This way (One), the reading cannot influence future actions/events
(Two) it provides a benchmark as to how YOUR timing works. I can tell in a layout roughly how many weeks or months in the future I am looking at, but it came from experience, and I know it is not the same for everybody.
(Three) Sometimes your reading has nothing to do with the cards you are looking at. Knowing how you work with this concept we call time is important.

Wow, Umbrae, that's a really neat idea. I think I'm going to give it a try. One question, do you keep it in an envelope for you to open it or for them to open it (or both)?

Umbrae, NICE!
I'm going to do that too.
What have been you results with this?
And the time part, when, how long, help (your 3 above)

Umbrae -- Could you elaborate at all? I'd be grateful -- timing is just one deep, dark mystery to me so far.
