I'm just getting to know my new Robin Wood which isn't too difficult. But this has got me beat.
What is the meaning of the bird-boats in the 2 Pentacles?
Thanks in advance all you RW fans.

I dont´t know exactly what "bird"-boat means, but if you mean the boat that is in the RW tarot behind the person balancing the two pentacles it is interpreted as going up and down - the abiliy of balancing changes and ups and downs in life.

From The Robin Wood Tarot: The Book (pg 99):
"Behind her fly the ships of her imagination, free to soar to the moon, which seems almost close enough to touch. It's her balance that gives them this ability.
"They are shaped like birds with their wings outstretched, to show their kinship with spirit and air. Their bird bodies, wings, and sails are all spotless white, to show their purity. The beaks and crests of the birds, and the boat part are all golden to show how rare and marvelous they are. Each also flies a red banner to show bravery and fearlessness. It takes courage to let your creativity take off like this, to leave all expected and normal limits behind."
This book will answer ANY question you have about why the cards were designed as they are. She goes into detail about everything in the pictures, showing how much thought went into this deck. I highly recommend it for anyone working with this deck.
(This is, by the way, my favorite card from any deck. I'm a soon-to-be ropewalking juggler in real life. I don't really look like her, though -- my hair is longer, and it's brown...)

I recommend the book too, she explains why she picked the subject matter, the colors, the various items on the card & it all makes sense. You can toss out that little white book after reading her larger book, because it'll all pretty much 'click' when you read it & look at the cards.
It's a little like taking a tarot course, she covers an awful lot in the pages. The only downside that I could see was that the little white book had reversal meanings, and the hardcover book only covered the upright meanings.
