Have people chosen their deck for soul purpose spreads based on enjoying attraction to a certain culture/ancestry, as well being drawn to the art?
I don't know how to title this, so please just laugh if it looks to you that I'm Goofy in a past life. In this life I'm of mixed Asian ancestry, from two different Japanese islands. There's a lot of influences that I enjoy and one manga tarot spoke volumes when I saw it online.
I haven't done anything with it for about a year.
Until today: started working with a storyline and suddenly, this tarot seemed to jump out at me. I'm tempted to do my soul purpose reading (why did I choose my ancestry/time for now).. It's the Himiko deck.
I'm interpreting the majors in a Rider_Waite_Smith style and using the same RWS meanings for the decorative pips. The additional details of Japanese motifs, I'll look up in art dictionaries. Does this sound a little goofy?

Hi Mari,
I only have the Sailormoon tarot and the Tarot of Wicca with Japanese book (I was already tempted to learn Japanese just because I am so curious to learn what is in this book) so pl do not see me as an authority on Japanese decks but I'd love to learn more about Japanese tarot art. I think the Japanese culture is very facinatin, altough hard to understand for gaijins.
There are some tarot decks which mean a lot to me so I get the best readings out of them for myself. I think it is very important to build up a connection with the deck to get the outmost for yourself.

There are lots of reasons why people are drawn to particular decks. With me, it begins with the art, but there must be something deeper I feel beyond that in order for a deck to really click with me.
There are many decks out there that deal with different cultures, so obviously someone has given thought to those who like to choose a deck that resonates with their heritage.
I say, whatever reason is strong enough to make you want to explore a deck in the name of enlightenment, is a good reason.
