Different decks work better or worse for different, right ?
I know I get good results with "Witch's Tarot" but someone else
may use the same deck and hate it. It's almost like a broken in
pair of shoes, they fit YOUR feet, on someone else they'd be
very uncomfortable.
So if loaned my deck to someone and told them I've gotten good
results, that is no guarentee that they would get the same
results. Right ??
Sorry if I'm starting to babble, it's been a looooong day, and it's not over yet !!!!!

You're right that it depends on the person and their personal connection/interaction with the deck. They won't necessarily get good readings with the deck just because you do.
I don't loan my decks. It's like having a baby and not being able to trust the baby out of your sight. LOL I either give them or trade them or sell them to someone else who wants them if I don't want them, or I keep them if I have a strong bond with them.

Like Teal, I personally don't loan out decks. I would not be averse to giving away, trading or whatever, a deck which I didn't want any more (for whatever reason). Personally, I don't have a problem allowing certain people to look at and handle my Tarot decks - friends who I know respect me and will handle my cards carefully. But I wouldn't just let any "tom, dick or harry" play around with them. But this is to protect the cards from physical damage. However, that doesn't mean you shouldn't loan out your deck. If you have a friend that you don't mind allowing to use your deck, then by all means, let them use it. This is a personal decision for you.
You are correct though, that a particular deck which works for you may not work for your friend. But this is the same sort of thing as chosing a deck for yourself. For instance... the Tarot of Marseilles, which many people (such as jmd) love and have great results with just didn't work for me at all. And, my new favorite deck, the Röhrig Tarot, which is really allowing me to open up my intuition and get great readings with, is just not going to work for some other people.
This, of course, is my own personal opinion and may not necessarily reflect the opinions of the Tarot decks which reside with me... ;)

Not a lot to add after Trogon and Teal. My first book on Tarot kept mentioning these universal symbols. There really aren't any. Some things may be common to all humanity such as death. Images that associate with death are not universal. In one country everyone where black to a funeral while another country uses yellow. In the 1800's the U.S., at least in parts of the east coast, a particular color of flower had a particular meaning. Florists try to revive that tradition. I don't like being told that yellow tulips are a "bad thing" because they stand for forlorn love. Bah, humbug!
Even when there is a connection with a deck, the images or symbols on it may just not register.
P.S. My witch's deck is starting to get a bit lonely while try to explore other decks. From someone who likes this deck, do you use the courts the way ECR suggested or do you stick with more traditional meanings?

I use th court cards that way that ECR recommends and have
had great success. If draw a court card I place it over the next
card I draw. The the court card and the other card are identified
in one position only, since they are read together.
It's strange how it all works.........I've woefully misplaced my
Witch's Tarot and almost ransacked the house in an unsuccessful
search for it. I finally took the hint and started using other decks.
I feel more balanced now.....It's almost as if the other decks were
getting jealous.
BTW-- I love you signiture................It's really a cute saying !!!!!!!

I definately agree that every tarot reader is going to have a unique relationship with various decks and get good or bad results for factors that would cause the opposite in others. Different strokes for different folks!

Thanks, I have no doubt that is was not misplaced by "accident"
I needed to use the other decks and as things turned out got an
absolutely mindblowing answer using Celtic Dragon.
I did a reading that said the only thing impeding my forward progress was a failure to see things as the really are, a failure to
see reality. I did readings with the other two decks as well,
Ibis and Celtic Tarot and received similar readings, so I finally had
to face the music and the truth revealed by the cards.
It was all true. But now that I've finally acknowledged this I can
do something about it. It won't take a lot of soul-searching to
find out what the real truth of my situation is -------
I've been taking way too much for granted, especially hubby and
I've also been underestimating my own potential, and all that I am capable of doing when I finally realize where I must focus my energies.
It was a real eye-opener !!!!!!!
I'm getting to work on it right away !!!!!!
I'll keep doing readings to check my progress. As I succeed in
intentions the readings should change.
Thanks for getting me back into my cards.
Of course, I probably would have figured it out sooner or later,
but I'm glad it was sooner thanks to my trusty tarot cards !!!!
BTW ---- HAPPY THANKSGIVING !!!!!!! HOPE YOU ALL HAD A HAPPY TURKEY DAY !!!!!!
