I was given a reading by a friend tonight...I've never experienced this before, but every card drawn was a sword except the Hierophant. I've always been partial to the swords and wands, but still I found this a bit odd. Have any of you had similar experiences or do you have suits that seem to grip you as your favorite decks do?

I have always been very much drawn to Cups. Perhaps this is because I am a person very much in touch with his emotions, and the finer spiritual side of life. Perhaps a bit TOO much! HEHEHE. Out of all the suits, I find cups perhaps the most easiest to read. Next I would have to say swords, then rods, and then pentacles. I just seem to struggle with those darn pentacles!!!! HEHE :)

Swords and pentacles for me.
All that fiery wand energy just leaves me feeling exhausted!!

I've always found that Pentacles speak to me the most, yet they rarely turn up in my readings. I don't think I've drawn a single one this month. It's been all swords and wands, which don't speak to me much at all.
I think perhaps Pentacles speak to me the most because it is the suit associated with my sign. And I would say I definately have a lot of Earth characteristics. But since it deals mostly with money and using your skills, I think that is why it hasn't been showing up for me lately.

Although I feel most comfortable with pentacles and swords (all that emotional stuff in the cups tends to confuse me..;) ), I have been getting a crazy amount of wands in every reading I do. Those are also the cards I have most trouble reading, which makes it pretty challenging.
It does make sense, considering the issues (creativity, self-assertion, etc) I have. It also makes me think that the cards tell me what I need to look at / deal with/ work through.

I'm still trying to get the hang of things when it comes to my cards, meaning I know when the cards are trying to speak to me but not what, yet. For me the fire and water do different things to me, I get restless (physicaly and intellictualy) with fire. Like my pants are on fire and calm for water. but air escapes me (bad pun) and the earth is well, hard.(ahh sorry another bad pun) >_<

The suit that speaks best to me is cups, as I like to delve into emotions and the inner self. But as I have to take care of a lot of practical stuff right now, I get a lot of pentacles. There was a time I got a lot of wands as well, this was a time my job was constantly a struggle to me.

Getting any of the suits is fine with me. Depends on the question. When I sometime struggle a bit is when I get a preponderance of suits for what seems an inappropriate response. Like a lot of cups in a work question.
Generally I like to see a few pents in a reading. Makes the situation seem grounded. If there are none, until proved otherwise I tend to assume a certain instability in the situation.

I'm more of a cups person, probably 'coz I'm so emotional. The cups are always beautifully illustrated, though.

Wands are my favorite, but I get alot of swords. This used to confuse me, because I try to stay out of conflict and had always seen this suit as one of conflict. Now that I'm older & wiser (LOL!) I understand what is really going on with swords....buts wands are still my fav!

I'm drawn to Wands and to some aspects of the Swords-suit. My readings are generally rather well balanced between the suits, I usually have representations of them all, rarely any major predominance of one suit.
All Swords and the Hierophant does sound like an interesting reading. Did it feel right to you?
Light and love,
Jenny :)

I am also a wands person ... followed by cups, then swords and finally pentacles. I just love the fiery energy of the wands ... I find it invigorating. I don't dislike any suit, this is simply my order of preference.

I'll say it didn't give off a feeling of being 'right' or 'wrong', such as I usually get from my own readings, but I wasn't sure if this is because it isn't right or if it's simply because I wasn't the one interpreting the cards...opinions there?
I have to say hearing about the suits you all respond to is really interesting (at least to me  )

cups for me are the easiest to understand and I love them. The next easiest for me is the pentacles, then swords, and last wands. Actually, I've never been able to understand wands very well, still struggling with them!

I like Coins the best (I'm a Marseilles person, so I don't do pentacles). I should mention, though, that for me Coins is the suit of fire, not earth. The gold disk-shape of a coin is very solar, whereas wands are more natural and organic and... well, earthy.

I've been identifying most with Wands and Swords so far. But then I discovered a deeply buried water element to my personality. I would like to explore it further so I've been trying to understand Cups better. So far though, my readings usually turn up Swords and Wands. lol I'll admit it: I'm not a very balanced person. I'm working on it!

Hm - I'm not sure I know what "right" and "wrong" means in a reading either, I think I meant more something like "Could you relate to it, did you feel the reading had meaningful insight to offer?"
If you lay out the cards yourself, do they tell you something different than the reader you went to told you? It might be worth a try?
Light and love,
Jenny :)

Actually Jenny, she was in a hurry to get home before curfew, so I'd like very much to try it again and see if I do inerpret things different when I'm the one looking for meaning. I think it'd be a good experiment to have us each write down what we see next time before talking about it, just to see how far apart our interpretations are.

Lately pentacles have been speaking to me,.... speaking, and speaking, and speaking,..... Lecturing is more like it! Over the past 3 months at least 60% of the cards I draw in either my daily draw or in my readings for myself are pents. I think they're trying to tell me something.
No matter what, I'm becoming proficient in pentacles!
