After a long, slow, awful night of typing an assignment due for this morning, I finally managed to get four hours sleep. So, on waking, I picked out the Queen of Swords as my card for the day!!!
What could this mean? Determination through suffering? A tough day ahead but I will get through it? I did have an advanced statistics class scheduled for today so thought that perhaps this could account for it!!! But this has been cancelled. Or perhaps it has something to do with work - I get my shifts for next week today. Mayhaps I will get the shift schedule from hell!!
Views please!

Hi centaur
Swords aren't just about trials and conflict, but also about the mind, which like a sword can be double edged.
Perhaps an alternative interpretation might be to keep your wits about you, be attentive.........or even that you are going to receive some sound advice from someone with a mature mind/outlook. Be aware of the negative interpretation, but don't assume it is so......heard of the self fulfilling prophecy?
The advice that might be coming your way isn't this message though.......wrong gender and appearance to qualify as a queen lol.
Hope this helps somewhat, and if not, then at least stimulates some thinking round the subject.
B well and happy

Thanks Dhaofollower,
What you say is interesting because I have an appointment with my PhD and MSc supervisor this afternoon. I shall wait and see what happens.
Cheers again!

Another possibility is that you have a very specific role to play today and you're expected to stay within that role. })
Just another way to look at it. ;)

I am just glad that my specific role today will not involve advanced statistics...

I can see how advanced statistics can be a garden of swords. I can even see the the Queen's throne coverd with swords. I guess no way but drop all emontion and pretend you're just a brain for until the course ends!

HEHEHE - a HUGE garden of swords!!!! Infact, if I was to do a spread on that course, i'm sure that The Moon, Nine of Swords, and the Tower, would put in a friendly experience. Arghhhh!!!!

Swords, are about thought – ego – intellect. Which is why they are seen as being about strife. Intelligence is desired and respected but intellect is not (“Go so school and learn, but don’t you dare use your intelligence to upset the status quo”).
The Queen is about the receptive qualities of the suit. Are you rigid in your mental models? Do you care more about style than substance? Are you street smart but real world dumb? How do you act when questioned?

Umbrae, thank you for your insights. Perhaps the Queen of Swords is a reflection on my thinking. I'm not so sure though - I like to think of my thinking as less rigid and constrained than most.
Interestingly, I have just paid a visit to my MSc and PhD supervisor; a woman of vast knowledge and expertise. On entering the room, she had her foot all bandaged up and resting on a chair. She had fallen and twisted her ankle this morning. I asked her why she hadn't gone home. And she said that she was determined to see the day through. She was in pain!!!! How Queen of Swords is that??!!

Then again...did you insist that that she go home where she could heal better? Or did you enable her supposed martyrdom…
How Queen of Swords is THAT?
(ROFLMAO)
Sorry, I just had to…chastise me severely…(LOL)

HEHE... well I did tell her that it looked painful and that she should have gone home, and she was like 'no no no, I must stay here and work'. And I was like 'you are SO committed to your work', HEHE. I think it had more to do with the fact that her husband couldn't collect her till five o'clock though!!!!
That might just be my new name for her - Queen of Swords.

Hey! I object to the "mean" assesment of the Queen of Swords, who I happen to identify very strongly with (as you probably guessed ;)). Just had to step in to defend er... myself. The Queen of Swords can certainly be a sharp-tongued sarcastic b*&^h, but that's not her only side. When you start to feel that way, you can actively choose to exploit that mental energy and direct it another way. While you still might not end up coming off as a sweet teddy bear, you could probably write some killer reports and analyses under this sort of influence. Like all other cards, she's got her good sides and her bad sides. You get to choose how you channel the raw energy.

Sorry for the delay in my response to your question.
I view the Queen of Swords as a dominant personality - a very no nonsense sort of person. A person who grants permissions and gives approvals (or not as the case may be). As this clearly didn't apply to Centaur20, it was quite likely he'd be meeting with someone who expected him to be the supplicant. Simple as that really.

Sorry Kes!! HEHE!!
I agree that by using the energy provided by the Queen of Swords, one could hammer their way through an essay or report, and come out on top 100%.
I sort of liken her to what most people think of the pop queen Madonna - she can be a real bitch but she gets the job done and does it well (suppose that's debatable though!).

that you don't have to do it a 2nd time.
When I took statistics, I crawled on the floor for one semester. The professor, King of Swords, managed his statistics empire very well. Destroyed our self-esteem ... shunned another professor who stepped in for two lectures and happened to be liked... A sweety King of Cups so as to say. In the end, we're all getting C's and D's and King of Swords curved our grades... based on a statistical analysis... and we all ended up with A's and B's.
He got is time around torturing us and ended heads up with a beautiful grade report for his department. And still, he can talk around how stupid we all are.
But when it's all over we look back and realize we have learned something and best of all: we're over with it.

One can look at daily cards as advice for the day. A court card can be traits you should try or consider carefully displaying. The Queen of Swords could simply be an admonishment to be conservative in your thinking. Watery or passive in your mental attitudes is also a possiblity too.

You were crawling on the floor??? I am dying on the floor!!! I hate it sooooooooooo much! And if I could get a sweety King of Cups professor I would give him a thousand tarot readings for a good mark!
