This little tidbit came to me as I was researching old posts.
Journaling will help answer all those questions about getting a card over and over. If a card shows up in 6 consecutive spreads and you are not reading about the same person or subject and you don't read that card with the same meaning each time, then even 100 in a row would not be significant. Or if you are reading on the same subject and or person but you don't Read it with the same meaning again and again, that card could have been the best choice for the meaning you needed each time without being significant cross reading wise. Now if you ask the same question once a week and you get the same meaning from a card or certain position no matter what card was in it or a simular meaning no matter the card or postition, get a clue.

I am all for journaling, and don't think I've ever done a reading without writing it down. (Hm, just thought of one time, but in two years that is not a lot anyway...!) Yay, journals...! :D
On the other hand, while reading your post I thought to myself that IF I was getting one specific card in a series of readings, either for the same person or on the same topic, the I would definitely think it related to each other, even if I got different interpretations of the cards each time.
The intuitive meanings may not be wrong even though they differ, but I still think a clear pattern would indicate there is more to be said about that card. All thruths can't be conveyed by a simple interpretation, or a single-layer explanation, reality is multi-layered and a reoccurring card may indicate a pattern that is of essence and that mustn't be overlooked.
But of course, these are only my thoughts and opinions!
Light and love,
Jenny :)

that journaling is important in getting your mind to work in making associations.
If the following assumptions hold true:
1: the cards are selected randomly
2: when reading you project whatever at some level you know to be true onto the cards thereby bringing it into your consciousness
then excercizing your mind with the cards is the right thing to do, and the more you do the best, within certain limits.
On the other hand if you believe that the "cards you need" or the "right" cards will show up for you when you need them to show up and that each card has a universal meaning that applies to certain situations, then reading less frequently and relying on fixed meanings rather than intuitive ones is the right thing to do.
