Ace of Pentacles

Just wondering if someone can give me additional insight on this card. I am very familiar with all the standard RW meanings but I have been getting this card regularly (4 times in a month) in my daily one card draw and I can't help feeling I'm missing something.

(Moderator: sorry if I should have put this in the readings section. Feel free to move as you see fit. Thank you!)

If you get this card regularly it is trying to tell you something...
Could it be that you have been making plans or daydreaming, maybe the card is telling you to get your feet back on the ground and to start acting.
If I get pentacles as advice they tell me to pay attention to practical matters, or to ground myself not let my mind wander too much. But then, I am the kind of person who can be very practical but loves to daydream, I don't know if this would apply to you.

The key word for Ace of Pentacles for me is "opportunity". There's a potential for some new, improved security, prosperity, stability, and by examining your life in a realistic, practical way the answer should be there for you.

If the answer isn't... look at what other cards are showing up in those daily draws, and remember that 'card a day' is like reading your sun sign horoscope in the paper. Its something very applicable in a general term, that you have to personalize based on your own individuality. The card itself isn't going to spell things out in clear terms for you, 90% of the time.

I always consider this card "the call to adventure". In the RW deck there is a path that leads out from the garden to--what? Who knows, it's an adventure.

Francesca, I like the way you think.
My life is fine right now. I'm satisfied with it the way it is. Could I use some adventure? Sure, why not!
I'm a very practical person, not a dreamer, very organized, fairly disciplined living a comfortable middle classed life. One of my takes on this is a reminder to be happy with what you have and not take it for granted.
I'm a stay at home mom with a special needs child and no good child care. That's ok because we can afford for me to stay hom. When she's at school I have the time to myself. I volunteer one day a week at an animal shelter and have been considering a second day working with either a group home or a psych hospital for kids (if they'll have me). Maybe it's time for me to get off my behind and get moving.
I wonder if this card will keep popping up until I do.
Thanks all!

Sounds like you are in the middle of an adventure with a child let alone a special needs one.

WHat other cards are coming up around this one? They might give you an indication of how drastic or minor a change or adventure you need.

I admire your willingness to give your time, but also consider something totally different. Keep your eyes open for an opportunity that you would never have thought of before.

I have read the ace of pentacle more as a contentment card - 'don't worry be happy' 'count your blessings' etc

A reminder to be grateful and enjoyed this period of peace.

My response here should be taken not in terms of a one-card reading, but in terms of a discussion on this card.

I also agree with the possible interpretative comments made above - so permit me to add other reflections.
  • The card as element:
Often (but not by all), the element associated with this card is that of Earth - of the material plane. Yet, to my mind at least, it is worth remembering that the material plane is sustained by the spiritual. As the Ace, this gift from the spiritually sustaining of the physical may be an indication that deeper understanding of the very physical surroundings may also be called for.
  • The card as Coin
As coin, as currency, it serves principally as a medium of exchange - fundamentally, of gift exchange (would but others see it this way at least some of the time :)). What may be called for here is either a sense for a lack of gifts and festivities - ie, meaningful social relations - or alternatively, reminding one that the gift of oneself to others is of the deepest kind.
  • Divine blessing
The Eucharist within Christian ritualistic services antedates Christianity - yet its poignant meaning is the same: through the sacrifice of the self, a higher calling is liberated. What is at call for deeper service?

-----

Again, I am not suggesting that any of these is pertinent to the situation at hand, just wished to discuss other aspect which may (and therefore also may not) become meaningful in a specific reading at hand.

In my opinion the Ace of Pentacles is not the promise of long-lasting financial and material security that some might expect, but it is the sign that such things are within your reach. It gives you the resources to go in search of higher goals.

The appearance of this card is usually the sign of a turn for the better in terms of fortune and wealth, and sometimes it can even indicate gifts of money, or inheritance from unexpected sources (hence the coin appearing from "thin air"). This gift does not have to be money of course; any kind of gift that has value to both the giver and the receiver can be indicated by the Ace of Pentacles. In particular, the card often refers to wedding rings and proposals of marriage, which may seem out of place in the Pentacles suit until you realize that such proposals are the solid foundation upon which the castles of love must be built.

The Ace also represents the fertile soil in which ideas can be planted to grow and mature. This will be a slow growth, as the Pentacles never move at a fast pace, but the success of the harvest is practically assured. The only caveat is that the Pentacles suit demands a realistic outlook. If you want to succeed, start now - it is not the time to dream and fantasize when there is work to be done! Forget flourish and dramatics, because hard work is the only thing that is going to produce results when the Ace of Pentacles is afoot. Keep your feet firmly planted in the Earth and let your common sense (and your intuition) guide you to success.

I thought you may enjoy the information above, it is from the page of James Rioux, ATA-CPTR.

was when I was having financial problems and trying to find a way to survive the winter.

I kept getting the A pentacles and the King of Pentacles over and over, but I didn't know what it was supposed to be telling me. Until one day my advisor "found out" that I was having those problems...

So he managed to get me a short-term stipend to complement my year stipend... money *just* enough to get by.

What is funny in the story is, I thought the deck was going nuts, because I could not possibly envision how I could lay hands on any kind of money... as I cannot work here, and my parents were in difficulties themselves at the time.

Aces are always "potential." The potential to be more, do more, develop. What they warn you is that you may be lacking in focus or direction. You have a lot of energy, but unless you focus it, you'll lose it.

The Ace Pentacles is right for you as you say you're a very practical person, very grounded and such. The Ace tells you that your pragmaticism, your good sense and organization are where your potential rests; the energy is more physical than mental; you could really get a lot done. You could, for example give more time to the animals or work with your hands making something or repairing something. It all depends on how you want to focus this very down-to-earth potential of yours--either on redecorating your home or starting a small business.

Ace Pentacles also signals a very lucky time when things just fall into your lap. The important message here: don't waste it!
