I am wondering something... how would you interpret it if you get a good or fair reading about something and then, a while later, you ask a similar question and you get a bad or not so good reading? Is this a sign of tarot burn out and that you shouldnt ask the same things too much?

sunflowr--
consider this case:
a friend of yours asks your opinion on a problem s/he is having. you listen carefully, slowly think over what has been presented, then give your best advice.
twenty minutes later, the friend again asks your opinion on the problem. what's happening here??
did s/he pay any attention to you the first time?? or could it be that s/he didn't quite like what you said the first time and is hoping you'll change your mind?? or maybe...
same thing with the cards. they don't always take well to people repeating themselves. clarification is all well and good, but second opinions...
fly well

i can understand about how the cards might now want to answer the same question that was just asked recently. but i did however try to do a yes/no spread to check if someone would be coming to my house that afternoon and it said no and the next thing you know he showed up. it was my very first time asking the question. i don't know if i did something wrong or if the cards just did not want to talk to me. i've heard this happen from one of my tarot instructors. could this be true?

well, from my understanding, when you ask a question and receive your answer, just the knowledge of the answer could change the outcome of the situation...
for instance, say someone is asking about work...you give them a spectacularly positive reading, showing how they've been working hard and things will pay off...now, they may take that positive information and say "great! i've got good stuff coming!" and they stop working so hard!! they sit back and wait for it to happen, and when it doesn't they say "hey! where'd all the good stuff go?" not good...
everything is changeable and often does change...this is why multiple readings on the same question are often fruitless because the path might already have been altered from the knowledge gained...
another example...someone asks about their love life, and you see all sorts of "negative" stuff...you look for the lesson/the obstacle/the thing that they can change...you give them your advice and whadya know? they take it!! now, things are working out for them, they are happy...so, where did all the negative stuff go? ;)
this is just my opinion of course, and i could be wrong...so, take what i've said w/a grain of salt, ok? :D
plus, i haven't had breakfast, and i'm quite hungry...hehe
many blessings to all!

hmmm...so u mean it is a psychological thing but if everything is destined, how could one change it's fate by seeing the results of the tarot readings? I believe it's a guide to give us a path to follow. If i was meant to happen, no matter how hard you try, i believe you will be back to square one.

this question is for the yes and no answer quesiton posted.
1. what method did you use ? simply reversed no, or upright yes ?
2. or an intrepation of the card itself .
example let say for example it was the tower and one took that to mean no,
but he comes and you both have a tower experience ?
3. you might not of been cleared mind when asking the yes and no quesiton. an example of this.
i find when people shuffle that some people mind start to think of other stuff and i ask them did you focus on your question solely ? and they said oh no and i break up the cards again and give them back for them to shuffle.
even myself when i shuffle i have to break up the cards now and then as other stuff pop into my mind.
why i do this as the tarot could answer a differnt question based on what we were thinking compared to the what was vocally asked . and gives a confusing reading.
this is just my take here. though .

i understand your POV, NeXoRiouS, but it is not one that i share...i do not believe that the path we are on is set in stone...yes, somethings may be inevitable, but i believe that we can choose which path to take...in our daily lives we are given many choices as to which path to take...and sometimes it can change your life, which path you choose...i give you two things for your review:
The Road Less Travelled
by Robert Frost
Two roads diverged in a yellow wood,
And sorry I could not travel both
And be one traveler, long I stood
And looked down one as far as I could
To where it bent in the undergrowth.
Then took the other, as just as fair,
And having perhaps the better claim,
For it was grassy, and wanted wear
Though as for that the passing there
Had worn them really about the same,
Both that morning equally lay
In leaves no step had trodden black.
Oh, I kept the first for another day;
Yet knowing how way leads on to way
I doubted if I should ever come back.
I shall be telling this with a sigh
Somewhere ages and ages hence:
Two roads diverged in a wood, and I --
I took the road less traveled by,
And that has made all the difference.
the other thing is: go rent "Sliding Doors"...a wonderful little movie w/Gwyneth Paltrow in it...this might show you what i mean...:)
many blessings to all...

There are certain things in life you cannot change, but you are free to choose how you deal with them.
For example: you want to do a study that requires maths, but you are not very good at it. You cannot change your natural ability.
The options you have are:
dedicate a lot of time and effort to learn what is required;
look for another easier study because you also want to spend time on other things.
So...your choices are limited and it is up to you to decide what is best for you. And here tarot can help to point you to the best decision in these circumstances. You cannot change the circumstances in this example but it is up to you how you deal with it.

thanks for helping me out with this. both my tarot instructors taught me to lay down 13 cards or stop once an ace appears, then i am to do the same thing with the 2nd and 3rd pile. i came up with only the ace of wands in the upright position.
my first instructor told me that if a single ace appeared, it meant yes but with many obstacles.
my second instructor taught me that if a single ace appeared, it meant no.
i was also taught to rely on intuition and my intuition said no. then he showed up later that afternoon. then i started to doubt the cards, then i started to doubt myself, now i am just seriously confused.
i can't remember the other two cards next to the ace of wands, but i do remember that i was concentrating.
could it have been my uncertainty? but then people that are confused usually seek guidance through tarot.
help!

the cards get "mad" when you ask the same question over and over.
I don't really believe the cards have feelings.
I believe you can get the answer you want from the cards, if you throw enough times.
Alex.
