Choosing a Significator/the cowardly way ;-)

I'm using an 8 cards spread for weekly readings. Now, I have an issue with significators. While I know that they are valuable (I perceive them as sorta like an initial "input" to a reading), I simply don't like to choose them. For once, it always gives me the feeling of stealing away a card that the tarot might otherwise present me with, and then I often just don't know what I want from the reading *g*

Soooo.... the solution I came up with was to choose the significator for the upcoming week from last week's cards. And then it came to me, that in this way I'm also expressing the continuing flow of time from week to week... So I stick to it. So I found that very ok. So I'm sharing it now. :-)

vijeno,

Thats an interesting cocept. I am glad it works for you.

I like to read with all 78 cards, I think I will try your method with a twist. pick a card for the prev. day/week spread and pull that card from another deck and use it..

This way I have 78 cards of the deck I am using and 1 significator from another deck that binds the day/weeks together.

I'll keep you posted as to how it works.

What a wonderful idea...the person you were, becoming the person you are now. It makes a lot of sense.

yes, an excellent idea vijeno! i pretty much follow the same school of thought in that i do not like to remove a card from the reading to use as a significator, since i may NEED that card in the reading itself...but i do like this idea...i don't do weekly readings for myself, but i can see how your idea would be useful! :) tres faboo!
many blessings to all...

Hi vijeno,

Interesting idea. I'm wondering though... did you simply pick a single significator then carry it on through all the readings, so you always have the same significator? Or, is there some randomness or change to it? And if so, by what mechanism?

Thanks for all the support! This is a very nice experience! As to Trogon's question - no, I choose the significator of this week's reading from the cards of LAST week's reading. And the next week, I'll choose from THIS week's cards. And so on... (I might of course even choose the current significator for the upcoming week, if I feel it's a topic that still has a high relevance... Actually, it didn't occur to me until you mentioned it!)

One more advantage is that I have a whole week's time to decide which significator I'll choose, since I leave the current spread open on a table thru the whole week.
