does it mean anything?

I am not sure this is exactly where to put this post, but I am not certain where else to put it.
I mentioned in another post that I've only done three readings since I've gotten my deck because for the most part I am not comfortable or familiar enough with the cards to understand the finer nuances of what they have to tell me.
The second reading I did was for my boyfriend, and while I was shuffling the 10 of cups popped out and landed in the center of the table between us. I am wondering how much of such things are chance; I tend to look at tarot cards more as meditative guides rather than "future-predicters," though I know there is some of that involved as well.
I personally feel that it meant something, but it's quite easy for me to make that assumption because I want it to mean something.
In y'all's opinions, do things like that carry any truth or is it generally just coincidence? Do cards carry enough power to will themselves away the rest of the deck in order to deliver their message?

Versejunkie,
I think it all depends on the 'feeling' you get whenever a card decides to throw itself out whilst shuffling. If it 'feels' meaningful, then you should interpret it as so. If not, then you should not.
I understand the problem you pointed out with this. Obviously, if the Ten of Cups throws itself out, then mostly everyone would hope for it/and perhaps therefore claim that it is meaningful. But i'm not sure that I could say the same for the Tower card. HEHEHE.
I think you just have to go with your intuition.

Actually, most readers DO take note of cards which fall out of the deck while shuffling and such. Not uncommon at all to take a fallen card and make it part of the reading. Not, mind you, that you would have to pay attention if the whole deck or a big chunk slipped and fell all over the place--but one or two cards, absolutely.
If a card flies out of the deck, by all means, take note of it, and consider it as either part of the message or the "underlying" card of the spread to come---meaning, the "theme" of the spread, or what the deck REALLY wants to discuss with your querent, never mind the question they ask.
