Hello all , i have perused the many many threads regarding the chariot and have not found any similarities to my interpretation of the Chariot . I would like to share it with you all and would appreciate any feedback or opinions .
The chariot as i see it indicates a course of action that cannot be executed until a certain set of external factors come into play ( the central disk that the charioteer has in his hands stops revolving ) ...in readings this interpretation has served well ...i do however struggle to see the relevance of cancer ( perhaps the external factors are related to the querants cycles ) ...i also had the slight feeling that the central disk could be Fortune...ooh as i sit and write this more thoughts come to light...is it possible that the charioteer believes he has control of the situation but simply cannot move on untill the wheel of fortune stops revolving and a seemingly random option opens up but in reality its not random but governed by the querants cycles...ah my brain is ticking away..

Firstly can I say hello and welcome to Aeclectic.
I also see the central disk as the wheel of Fortune, the disk is moving but at this time the chariot is not. The charioteer is in contemplation, deciding which way to go. I think that The Chariot is about control, other decks depict 2 horses or shynxes of different colours both pullng in different directions, the charioteer must bring these animals under his control in order to drive his chariot on a straight course.
I think that the central wheel (fortune) is under the control of the charioteer,(when he decides which way he wants to go) signifying that he is the master of his own destiny, he holds it in his hands. There are 4 animals pulling this chariot and also 4 pillars, could these relate to the elements or is that just the pagan in me?
Sorry if this hasn`t made much sense, haven`t been studying this deck for very long.

What about the sign cancer , how in your opinion does this relate

Hmm, astrology certainly isn`t something I know much about. The sign cancer is represented by the crab; and armoured crustatian(I think) maybe this relates to the chariot being a very early form of armoured vehicle. Thirteen in her BASICS mentions that crabs walk sideways, chariots attack from the side as opposed to head on. She also refers to the crab as being an animal which lives on both water and land; the unconcious and concious; the spiritual and earthly planes, indicating that the charioteer has control over these realms.
As I said astrology`s not my strong point.

You see , i was thinking that the sign cancer being ruled by the moon would somehow indicate that the set of events that would unfold that would allow the charioteer to continue would be directly influenced by the cycles of the moon..in other words the querants own cycles ( but these would be percieved as pure chance by the querant )...what do u think?

Tis ok i have found the answer that most satisfies ...it is ..triumph , but only if soft feminine qualities are employed within a hard , masculine exterior...
deals with cancer and the symbolism on the card nicely i feel..
thanks for the input folks.....
