way to shuffle?

I just got my first tarot deck and a book on how to use it. I want to know how do you shuffle the deck? I don't exactly know how to shuffle cards. :)

Hi Rojin,

Well, I basically use many ways to shuffle the cards. whatever feels right at the time. You can even put them on a table and mix the all up. You can shuffle the way you would a regular deck, or just keep making stacks and re piliing them if you want. There really is no right way.

Just curious, what book did you buy to learn from? I learned with Tarot for Yourself by Mary Greer.

Take care,
Mimers

Bascally, you can mix the cards any way that you want to. ;)

Howdy Rojin... Welcome to Aeclectic Tarot!

As for shuffling... I gather from your post that you just don't know how to shuffle cards at all? Basically, if you've never used any cards (shuffling them for games, for instance) I would suggest you get a few decks of regular playing and practice on them so you can get the "hang of it". The reason I say this is because, until you get a little experience with it, get the mechanics of it, you run the risk of damaging your more expensive Tarot cards. In the meantime, you can just lay your Tarot deck on your clean table and "shuffle" it by spreading the cards around with a smearing motion of both your hands.

I am currently working on a series of pictures to post on Aeclectic(eventually) which addresses a method of shuffling the larger Tarot decks. It takes a little bit of practice, but gives a very good shuffle with little risk of damage to the cards...

Trogon, let me know when you get that posted as i'm quite interested...i have long fingers, but small-ish hands...i've gotten used to my RW deck for shuffling, but some other decks are bigger and they "intimidate" me ;) hehe
many blessings to all...
